Best Campgrounds near Big Arm, MT

Camping in Big Arm, Montana centers around Flathead Lake, with multiple state parks offering lakeside sites. Big Arm State Unit and Finley Point Unit provide developed camping with both tent and RV sites along the shoreline. Several campgrounds in the area feature full hookups for RVs, while others maintain more primitive tent camping areas. Public lands surrounding Flathead Lake support a range of accommodation types, including cabins at Rollins RV Park and traditional campsites at Yellow Bay State Park, allowing visitors to choose between amenity-rich or more basic camping experiences.

Many campgrounds in the Flathead Lake region operate seasonally, with most sites open from early May through late September. The Big Arm State Unit typically closes by late September, while Finley Point remains accessible until mid-November. Road conditions generally allow standard vehicles to access major campgrounds, though some sites have limitations for larger RVs. Drinking water availability varies significantly between locations, with some parks like West Shore and Lake Mary Ronan offering potable water while others require campers to bring their own supplies. Advance reservations are recommended during summer months when lakefront sites fill quickly. According to one visitor, "Most of the sites are along the water, but seem a little close to one another... sites T1 and T3 are both walk-in sites at the end of the campground and are SO worth it."

Waterfront camping receives consistently positive reviews throughout the Flathead Lake area. Campers particularly appreciate the clear water access and mountain views at Yellow Bay State Park. One visitor described it as having "gorgeous hikes, great campground!! I love a camping spot that has great hikes and beautiful scenery and views. This campground has all of those!" Wildlife viewing opportunities abound throughout the area, with deer commonly sighted near campsites. While most state park campgrounds offer basic amenities like picnic tables and fire rings, facilities such as showers are limited. The region includes both reserved and first-come, first-served sites, with pricing typically ranging from $20-50 per night depending on location and amenities. Campgrounds on the western shore tend to have more developed facilities compared to the eastern side of Flathead Lake.

    West Glacier KOA Resort

    EXPENSIVE, but Kinda Worth It

We loved this place and location. Cost makes it prohibitive as you could stay at a really nice hotel, but I’d stay there again. Food on location is convenient. It isn’t great, but after a long day of hiking nice. The grounds are beautiful. The big dog park is next level and our dogs wanted to play like kids at a playground. The landscape is the best I’ve ever seen. It’s just crazy pricey.

    Blair Flats

    Paradise

We stayed here for 4 or 5 days while on our 5 week trip across the west in our campervan. We stayed at the most wonderful places and this was hands down our favorite! It was mainly just us the entire time. We stayed through the week, so the only people who came through were bikers looking for a spot to sleep. Other than that it was just us. The vault toilet was clean also! Site 1 offers sun, shade and access to the river.

    Blankenship Bridge - Dispersed Camping

    Big rigs not recommended

Pulled out Alliance Valor 32A10 down the horrible access road. Had to do a walk around after to verify no damage. Bed rails touched under my front cap a few times but luckily no damage.

Best for overlanding vehicles. Beautiful location if you can get down the access road.

    Edgewater RV Resort & Motel

Flathead Harbor Resort RV Luxury Condos and Cabins / Edgewater RV Resort & Motel

Stayed in a cabin for a couple nights and had a great stay! You can hear a bit of road noise due to being in town and near the main road, but everything else was great: clean, showers, laundry facilities, near groceries/restaurants, pet-friendly, etc.

    Adorable camping spot

I absolutely loved this camping spot. Staff were friendly and the lovely couple at the cafe were super helpful for advice on where to check out. Having a hot shower after hiking was bliss. There’s even a communal fire at 7pm if you feel like being social

    Holland Lake Picnic Site

    Heaven on Earth

Embarrassing to say that I’m pushing 50 and this is my first time visiting Holland Lake. OMG! This place is gorgeous. I have taken some strolls on nearby paths and there are so many hidden gems of lakeside spots to enjoy the scenery. It is a very mellow weekend and wx has been cool and rainy. I could spend weeks here. I’m on the Bayview loop and they’ve locked up the bathrooms and put porta potties instead. Sign says it closed for the season in a few days 10/7. The other loops they’ve kept the bathrooms open oddly enough. I was not expecting to get service but T-Mobile I have 1 bar and sometimes I get 5G. Around the lake I’ve seen 3 bars of service. There are zero complaints. Quite a few spots show reserved and nobody showed up likely b/c of the wx but that’s still garbage to hold up a spot out of selfish greed. I’m so glad I came and I am so excited to visit with my family in the summer. There are a decent amount of walk up sites that imo should be reservable for $100nt they are so epic.

    Camp off North Fork Road

    Large and open

The area down the road was full and had limited car camping / roof top tent camping so my buddy and I moved this way and found plenty of opportunity.

    Middle Fork Flathead River Dispersed

    Riverside Camping

Very nice spot close to Glacier NP. As others have mentioned, the road getting in is very rough, but i made it up/down several times with my Promaster 2500 van with no issues, just got to be strategic about how you take the ruts. Awesome views of river. Road is a little noisy at times, but nothing to complain about. Plenty of other people camping there. Cell service was pretty good.

What you should know

Hookup availability: Not all campgrounds offer full hookups. "Loop B has views through the trees of the lake. It's a special place," reports a West Shore Unit visitor. Another notes, "Electric and water is available in loop B. Loop A is primitive camping."

Seasonal considerations: "The sites at this resort are beautiful. They are large and in some cases the owners have added beautiful kitchens, sitting areas, fire pits, etc. In all cases there is really well cared for grass at each site and tons of room," shares a visitor to Polson Motorcoach and RV Resort.
