Lewis & Clark National Forest includes Mortimer Gulch Campground, a small Forest Service site in the Sun Canyon area outside Augusta, Montana. Access is rough, so rigs longer than 20 feet won't make it through. The campground runs from Memorial Day through November 30 and provides drinking water and toilets. Nearby, Home Gulch Campground sits 2.2 miles east along the same corridor. This site makes sense for campers with smaller vehicles who want a basic, established base in the national forest.
Description
It is highly recommended that a 4WD vehicle is used to reach the cement boat ramp (1/2 mile away).
