Kayakers and paddlers find direct access to Holland Lake's clear waters at this Forest Service campground in the Flathead National Forest. The boat launch accommodates smaller watercraft, though the shallow entry limits larger motorized boats. Most sites sit on level, graveled pads with picnic tables and fire rings, while one unique site requires paddling to reach an island location.
The campground maintains a quieter atmosphere than many lake destinations, partly due to the gravel road access that creates dust during busy weekends. Carl H. notes "Holland Lake is very pretty and the campground is in good shape." Sites offer good spacing and shade, with pit toilets and potable water available. Black and grizzly bears frequent the area daily, making proper food storage essential.
Swimming and fishing draw many visitors to the lake's clear waters. The popular Holland Falls trail begins directly from the campground, suitable for families and offering a shorter hike to the main waterfall plus longer options to upper falls. ATV trails provide additional recreation opportunities in the surrounding forest. Holland Lake Lodge operates nearby, offering kayak and paddleboard rentals for those without their own equipment.
The gravel access road extends several miles from the main highway and sees heavy traffic during peak season. Alexandra M. recommends bringing bug spray, as mosquitoes are active especially upon arrival. Cell service requires traveling back toward Seeley Lake. Reservations help secure preferred sites during summer months.
For different camping experiences in the region, nearby Holland Lake Picnic Site offers day-use options just down the shoreline.
