50,000 Silver Dollar Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Pulling off I-90 in De Borgia, Montana, this privately run campground sits behind the 50,000 Silver Dollar bar, motel, and gas station complex, making it a practical overnight stop for westbound and eastbound travelers alike. The setup is straightforward: roughly 8 to 10 sites in a back lot, spaced reasonably well apart, with free electric hookups that campers simply plug into and activate by flipping a breaker. Class A rigs fit without issue. The campground is far enough from the interstate that most highway noise fades, though truckers pulling into the adjacent lot do idle through the night, so light sleepers should factor that in.

The electric hookups are the headline feature here, and they cost nothing. There is no dump station, no water hookup at the site, and no dedicated restroom facility in the camping area, but reviewers consistently note that the bar and gas station inside the main building are available for bathroom use and resupply. The attached restaurant, gift shop, and casino give campers somewhere to spend an evening without driving anywhere. Cell service is available on site, and at least one reviewer found the WiFi workable.

"Great free camping spot for an overnight stay," notes one camper who returned to the site multiple times. It runs first-come, first-served with no long-term stays, so arriving with enough daylight to find a spot matters, especially around holidays when a second overflow lot near the buildings sees heavier use. Travelers looking at places to camp around De Borgia will find nearby alternatives including Savenac East Cottage (Mt) -- Lolo National Forest and Savenac West Cottage for those who prefer a national forest setting. This campground works best for RV travelers needing a free, electrified overnight stop along a long highway stretch.

Free Camping!

It’s in the back of a hotel, casino, bar, gas station but better than a Walmart parking lot and you are between mountains. Some electric hook ups at sites and they are also free! Also fire rings. Plenty of space to park. Was just an over night stay before heading to glacier.

Very convenient, free electric

This location was terrific. Showed up late, got gas, got directions from gas station attendant. Two campgrounds I guess you would call them. It was fourth of July so lots of fireworks coming from campground near buildings. A little road to the back led us to the back lot of sites, probably 8-10 of them, pretty good spacing between them. RV outlets freely available, just hook up and flip the breaker. One breaker controls a large light. Fireworks ended at a reasonable 11pm. Slept well. Felt safe. Thank you very much! Be sure to patronize the restaurant etc.

Free camping!

Great free camping spot for an overnight stay. Far enough from the interstate to eliminate most road noise. There is an overflow lot that is more private but closer to the interstate. 7 sites have free electrical hookups. There are also picnic tables. Would definitely stay again.

Gotta love free

Our kids love this gift shop. Great stop for a night along I-90. Friendly staff indoors. Yummy milkshakes, knowledgeable locals and electricity in our site. We filled up on groceries, water and WiFi was decent too.

Free camping right off I-90

Pulled in after a quick stop in Missoula, heading West. Stayed one night, pulled in and looked like only 3 other campers, maybe around 10 sites total? I hear it offers free electricity if you have a rig for it. Our site had a fire pit and picnic table. It was located behind the 50,000 silver dollar bar/ motel. So there will be noise from the truckers pulling in/ idling. We set up and went in to enjoy a beverage, got a great deal and got to have nice conversations with the people inside. Loved this quick stop for an evening. Didn’t see any place for garbage or a toilet so we used the facilities inside the bar and gas station.

(Didn’t see any wildlife or evidence of any either)

A free spot

We stopped here on our way out of Montana (our home state). A winter storm rolled in and made the pass impassable. This is a FREE RV park with electric hookups…no water, cable, or dumping station, but again, FREE. The snow was hitting hard and having electricity was a lifesaver. There is a really good restaurant and bar here as well as a truck stop and gas station. We have a Class A and the spots were plenty big. Lots of dog walking areas too. Perfect in an emergency and great for a short stay. No long terms and is first come first serve.
