Nice USFS campground

All camp sites have a picnic table and a fire ring. Please ensure fires are permitted before starting a fire. The campground was clean and quiet. Pit toilets were clean and well stocked. Please note that I was there during the week. I imagine that during summer weekends it can get quite noisy with boat and jet ski traffic being so close to Reno. I would definitely stay again.

Free camping!

Great free camping spot for an overnight stay. Far enough from the interstate to eliminate most road noise. There is an overflow lot that is more private but closer to the interstate. 7 sites have free electrical hookups. There are also picnic tables. Would definitely stay again.

Twin Bridges Recreation Area

Great free camping on the Salmon River. We stayed there one night and it was very nice picnicking along the Salmon. The campground has a single vault toilet that was very clean. The campground can accommodate large RVs as it's mostly a large gravel parking lot. We would definitely stay here again.

Free Camping!

Camping is right on the lake. The road into the campground is a gravel road about a mile from 95. The road is passable for travel trailers. I scooped out 5 campsites with picnic tables and fire rings. If you don't get a site, there is plenty of parking in the dirt lot. There are two vault toilets. I really enjoyed our stay here. Please note that it does get buggy in the evenings. But a great overnight stay as you don't hear the road noise from 95.

Older Facilities

Good campground for fishermen and bird watchers. There is also some hiking available.

Pros - well maintained facilities but a little old. Hot showers and clean bathrooms. Camping next to the lake. The campground has a visitor center and camp store.

Cons - campsites are very close with limited privacy.

Safe overnight parking by Area 51.

Good place to park overnight. Spoke to manager and they said that you can park anywhere as long as you are not blocking pumps, entrances, propane tanks and access to air. While it can get noisy at night due to semi's, I found that a good set of ear plugs did the trick.

Great state park

I enjoyed my stay here for 2 days. Had a great time hiking the Sunset Trail to Picacho Peak.

PROS - large campsites, picnic tables and fire pits on each site. Some sites have a covered pavilion. Great hot showers. Separate dish washing station. Clean facilities. Electric hookups.

CONS - No hot water or trash cans at the dishwashing station. Can hear road noise from I-10, but you get use to it

Desert Tortoise Campground

This review is for the Desert Tortoise Campground. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here. Campsites are decent but a couple of shortcomings.

PROS Campsites have covered pavilions with a picnic table, fire ring, and gravel drives. Bathrooms are dated but clean and in good working order. Portable water is available at the rest rooms. Dumpsters are available.

CONS No hot water in bathrooms. No showers. Other campgrounds within the park had showers that you could use, but there was only one functioning bathhouse. No dishwashing station available. Boat noise on the lake is sometimes a disturbance.

Nice but cramped

I enjoyed my stay here. The best sites are on the perimeter of the lot.

Pros - clean bathrooms, dishwashing area, fresh water available, close to lots of great hiking, picnic tables are available on perimeter sites.

Cons - some sites are in the parking lot , no hot water in bathrooms or dish washing area, no showers.

Nice State Campground

Nice campground for an overnight. Probably wouldn't stay more than a day or so. Not much to do and see.

Pros - Clean bathrooms and showers, hot showers, wheelchair accessible showers and bathrooms, electrical and water at each site, each site has a nice pavilion with wind block, picnic table and grill. Nice playground for the kids, Dumpsters available. There are some pull through sites. Sites are asphalt. Both reserveable and first come sites 2 primitive camp areas. Nice lake.

Cons - Very windy, not much to do at the campground. Gave me time to read a good book.

Great Camping Spot

Nice camping spot only about 5 miles from Carlsbad Caverns. The sites are nice and the vault toilet was very clean. I camped here in February and there was plenty of room. I got here around 5:30 PM.

Clean Rest Area

This is a clean and well maintained test area. There is security here during the overnight. I spoke to the security guard and he said that the rest area is very safe. He said that he is mostly here to ensure that semi trucks do not park across car spots. There is some road noise but it quiets down later in the evening.

Free Overnight Parking

Quiet casino parking lot just off of the highway. If you're in a truck camper or van, you're free to park anywhere except employee parking or the garage. If you're in a motorhome or pulling a trailer, they want you to park in the truck lot. I parked in the parking lot out front near the truck lot. You do hear some highway noise, but I didn't think it was too bad.

Quiet and Clean

Very well maintained park. The bathrooms and laundry room were very clean. Showers were hot and clean. I spent one night in the park and it was very quiet

Furnace Creek Campground

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at this campground. Sites have fire rings, picnic tables and level asphalt drives. Rest rooms are not modern but they are always clean. I only gave 4 stars because there are no showers.
