Osage Campground Retreat

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Paddlers and anglers have a direct reason to consider Osage Campground Retreat: the property sits close to a conservation boat ramp on the Osage River, and the campground rents canoes and kayaks at rates reviewers describe as reasonable. River access is the clearest draw here. The gravel sites are flat and sized to handle large rigs, with a stated maximum RV length of 100 feet and full hookups including electric, water, and sewer.

The campground has seen notable improvements under relatively recent ownership. New gravel, a remodeled bath house, free on-site laundry, and a clubhouse with a pool table and air hockey give it more infrastructure than a basic overnight stop. A camp store stocks firewood and ice. Reviewers note the grounds are generally clean and well-maintained, though one visitor flagged that WiFi can go down after storms and may not be quickly restored. Cell service gets mixed marks as well, so campers relying on connectivity should plan accordingly.

Site character varies. Perimeter spots tend to offer more privacy, and a few long-term residents remain on property, which some short-stay campers find changes the atmosphere. Tent campers have found flat, shaded spots, though shade coverage across the campground is limited in places. Nightly rates have run around $44, which some reviewers consider high given occasional gaps in service. Those exploring camping near Westphalia will find this one of the more fully equipped options in the corridor. If river recreation is the goal, this campground puts you close to the water with the gear rental to match.

New management has brought significant improvements with clean facilities, friendly hosts, and family amenities. Some concerns about value and past trailer park atmosphere, but most found it quiet with river access.

Small & Quiet

Small little campground. My family came here to test out our camper for the first time. About 10 to 15 min from home. Kids ride bikes and has a little playground. Has a few pull through spots which is nice.

Cute Little Camping Spot

Good: It was clean and tidy, had ice and firewood for sale, was close to the boat ramp for the Osage River, and the bathrooms looked to be newly remodeled. Good shaded and flat spot for our tent.

Bad: No one on-site, no TP, no paper towels, no internet (Other campers said it had been working until the power went out during a storm a few days before; when the power was restored, the internet didn't come back)

Conclusion: For $44.29/night, I would keep going next time.

Great Experience

This hidden little gem is a great place to spend some time. Above all else the owners and staff are fantastic down to earth folks. The park is quiet, the bathroom facilities are a 10 in my opinion. Close to Jefferson City and plenty of river activities. Check them out. You won’t be disappointed.

Nice place

Typical campground, pull thru sites, gravel, trees, canoe rental, camper rental, very nice shower house/ laundry. Ask for a site around the perimeter for privacy.

My FAVORITE place to camp, best owners I’ve met

This place is, by far, the BEST campground I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at. The camper we stayed in had ALL the comforts“glamping” had to offer!

Let alone the bath house(means is squashed themed and CLEAN) and the club house is a GREAT place to kill time while it’s raining or just to get out of the heat.

With a new Pool Table As well as a TV and air hockey, just a great place for me and my wife! Great place for families and floaters alike! They have a new(less than a couple years old) playground for the kids along with kayak rentals so everyone can find someone fun to do!

The owners are always quick to respond and clearly care about their campground like it’s their own child! One of those places you HAVE to try out at LEAST once!! If my wife can enjoy camping here… ANYONE can!!

Major improvements!

We were hesitant to come based on other reviews, new management/owner about 8 months now. Major improvements to the camground. New gravel, with large flat spots, very clean and quiet. Long termers have been cleared out with only a few left that have well kept spots. Campground big enough for large rigs. If visiting the area, this is the spot to be. We had a full fire pit of wood (not sure of this was a coincidence), they offered float trips (canoes and kayaks) that were reasonably priced as well as a cute camp store. New bathrooms and showers, free laundry(one washer and dryer), and Excellent hosts! You can tell they have worked a lot and have a lot left to go, Wouldn’t hesitate to come back!

Full hookups but sketchy

Clean grounds, close to a conservation boat ramp and again full hookups. That’s about where it ends.

Most sites appear to be year-round Occupied. Fifth wheels with buried to sewer lines And people riding their lawn mowers outside their campers.

All things being equal it seems like more of a trailer park with a few camping vacancies.

Tight quarters

Easy access to the Osage river which is nice, but the campsite itself is a pretty tight fit without very many trees. It serves its purpose though!
