Big Lakes Turtle Cove Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Reservations are available at Big Lakes Turtle Cove Campground, a privately managed site in northwestern Missouri that runs $39 per night with full hookups at every spot. Pull-through sites with 20/30/50 amp electric, water, and sewer connections make this a workable stop for RV travelers who need reliable infrastructure. The layout is level. Campers arriving by car will find the access straightforward, though at least one reviewer noted the campground sits out of the way enough to make a single overnight feel like a long haul.

Water is a consistent presence here, with the lake visible from sites and wildlife sightings noted by multiple reviewers. That said, the lake has drawn some criticism. One reviewer described it as stagnant, with dead trees visible from their site, which is worth factoring in if open water views matter to your trip. The campground also allows boat-in and walk-in access, and pets are welcome. WiFi and picnic tables round out the listed amenities.

Maintenance has been flagged as inconsistent. Angela M. noted the camp is "not well cared for," which lines up with the mixed ratings across reviews. Campers who prioritize polished facilities may want to weigh that against the full-hookup convenience. The Big Lake State Park Campground, 1.4 miles east, provides a state-managed alternative for those who want to compare options in the area before committing.

Those planning a longer stay in the region can explore camping near Forest City to see what else is available across this stretch of Missouri. For the right traveler, Turtle Cove's hookups and water access make it worth a look.

Okay for one night

Pluses: pull thru lots, very level, convenient hook-ups

Minuses: A bit out of the way for one overnight stay, but you wouldn't want to stay any longer. The camp is not well cared for and the lake is stagnant with dead trees in our view.
