  Small town park

  4 grass spots with 30 amp electric picnic table and trash cans. Dump station at the pay box but no water. Found a business that let us fill our tanks. Bathroom across from the sites. Quiet park very nicely kept. Laundry mat across the street. Would stay here again.

  Andes RV Park

  Great camping spot!

  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had an incredible stay at Andes RV Park! The facilities are top-notch, with brand-new, spacious bathrooms and showers that were really nice and clean! The park offers a fantastic range of activities, including golf cart rentals, volleyball, horseshoes, disc golf, pickle ball, etc…and in winter, cross-country skiing and tubing—there’s something for everyone! The laundry room, the firewood and the ice delivery service were a convenient touch, and easy as a quick phone call or text. The owners were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, making us feel right at home. Highly recommend this gem for a fun and relaxing RV camping experience!

  Side note: if coming in summer make sure to bring plenty of bug spray!!!

  Tipsinah Mounds City Park

  Great place!

  We stayed in V5. Not lakeside but nicely secluded. There is a nice beach and the lake is clear. There is a big playground, basketball court, and ball field. The store has necessities and they will even make you a pizza and deliver to your site. In the afternoon they have a hay ride (without the hay) around the grounds, kids loved it. Shower facilities were clean, and they have a nice set up of handicap accessible showers and bathroom. We'd stay here again.

  Glacial Lakes State Park Campground

  Located in Central MN

  The trails in the park have nice rolling hills and offer a unique type of beauty. The campground is small, but offers some electric sites as well as some primitive sites. I do believe there were 2 or 3 cabins that I saw. Unsure if there is a group camp with this campground being so small as it is. Firewood is available at the check in/office building. There is a bathroom/shower building in the loop with the electric sites. The electric loop and primitive loops both have vault toilets. Each loop also has a few water stations to fill containers with potable water and each loop has a dumpster for disposing of waste. Not sure if there is a dump station for RVs as I typically use a tent when camping. Nice state park in Rural central Minnesota

  Lakefront camping

  General: RV style camping on Pomme de Terre Lake and Kenny Lake. Many sites are lakefront or have a view of the lake. We were one of the few (if not only) non-seasonal campers at this campground. 

  Site Quality: Our site was located directly behind the store/office but had a view of the lake. Parking was on grass. The site was level and had an electric hookup. A wooden picnic table (in good shape) and a fire ring complete the site. When I called to make a reservation, I asked for a non-electric site but was told the primitive sites are far from the restrooms. I’m glad we settled on an electric site as the primitive ones, besides the distance from the restrooms, would also only be suitable for tents. 

  Bath/Shower house: Reasonably clean but I’ve seen better. Two showers, two toilets, and one sink. The shower had hot water and good flow, but it was cramped with little room to get dressed (plus the showers are located right inside the door, impeding privacy. 

  Activities: All the activities you would associate with lakefront camping. None of these applied to us but it was a good overnight location for passing through. Several speed boats zoomed by on the lake, and I imagine that on a summer weekend, the boat traffic would be much increased. There is a fish cleaning station. There are nice docks with benches to enjoy the view of the lake/sunset. 

  This campground is not our preferred type of camping – no privacy between sites but on a weekday toward the end of August, it was very quiet (but still HOT). We appreciate that we were assigned a lakeview site as not all of them are.

  Glacial Lakes State Park Campground

  Just Meh

  We tent camped in the non electric sites in the Lower Campground. They were shady thank goodness, but not very flat or large. Your tent will be on rocks, not grass. 

  When we were visiting, the shower house was closed due to Covid, so no review of that. The vault toilet was stocked with TP and fairly clean. The portapotty was near full and smelled awful. Didn’t look like it had been emptied all summer! Gross.

  The lake was really high when we visited, which led to a useless campground fishing pier and a boat dock that you had to swim to to use. There was no beach, but there may have been if the water level was normal. Watch out for biting sunnies in the swim area and enormous snapping turtles stealing the fish off your hook at the fishing pier near the swim area.

  We did go into Starbuck which is 5 miles away. Very impressive beach, groceries and a DQ all an easy drive away.

  Awesome place to get away

  Beautiful location. most lots are lake front. camper spots are easy to get into and spacious. two primitive areas, one by the beach and the other is tucked back in the trees(super secluded). people at the office seem nice and helpful. overall very impressed.

  Glacial Lakes State Park Campground

  Perfect for families

  Great family campground. Lots of shade cover. Oak ridge is perfect for larger rigs (<35 feet - anything bigger there are only 2 spots that will fit) (no electric or water). Clean vault toilets. Lots for kids to do. Canoeing, fishing, paddle boards. Great hiking trails. Loop for kids to bike on easily. Easy to get to.

  For those using the dump station it’s on a hill and tougher for bigger rigs to use. No flushing station. But water throughout park. Firewood at the station. Small number of electric sites in the first campground but sites are closed together and less privacy/shade. Bathhouse is in first campground.

  Glacial Lakes State Park Campground

  Ideal Campground within two hours of Twin Cities

  We booked our stay at the Lower Campground on a whim as it was one of the only campsites available in MN on a two week notice during Covid. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise! The park is perfect for a short weekend trip. Campground was well maintained with easy access to the hiking trails and a nice view of the lake. There was enough exploring to fill a day or two. The sites are close side-to-side, but trees line the outside sites and there is good back-to-back space between the inner sites. Not all sites have hammock trees though. We got very lucky with the August weather as the bugs were completely manageable both at the campground and on the hikes. The Lower Campground is the only one with electric sites, but the Oak Ridge had nice shade and space. Preferred sites in Lower Campground would be 7 for non-electric for privacy and lake views, and 14e, 16e, and 18e for electric. Bathrooms were not open for use when we came. Also, the water fill and dump stations are on the opposite side of most campers which was the only downside. There was not water supply at the dump station to rinse out the tank. But overall, it’s nice trip that’s only two hours from the Twin Cities. We enjoyed the prairie views and the lake. Will be back!
