Description

Municipal

Bagley City Park is one of a kind for northern Minnesota. This 30-plus-acre park and campground is located on beautiful Lake Lomond and is a short drive from Itasca State Park, home of the Mississippi Headwaters. The park offers the serenity of northern Minnesota, only with the convenience of civilization just blocks away. You can go out for family dining in the evening, and listen to the loons while you nestle in your sleeping bag.

The park has many things to offer its visitors of all ages:

There is large beach and swimming area. The swimming area is marked by buoys to keep the boats out and there is a roped off area for younger children. Also on the beach there is a sand volleyball court.
The city campground, which is inside the city park, has over 40 RV campsites and over 10 tent sites. 10 seasonal sites southwest of the beach.
The park has basketball and tennis courts. Plus there is a softball field, called the Frog Pond. Oh, and don't forget about the nine hole disc golf course!
The park also offers three large picnic shelters which are located throughout the park. These shelters may be reserved for your upcoming family reunion or events.
If fishing is your recreation of choice, then you’ll be glad to hear that the park has a public access to the lake with a concrete boat ramp and two-boat dock to assist you. Lake Lomond has bluegills, walleye, and northern pike in abundance at almost twice the amount of other lakes in the area.

Nice campground inside the town of Bagley

The campground has either electric or water or just electric sites for RVs and there are also tent-only sites.  The tent sites are located across from and adjacent to the RV sites.  The RV sites are pretty close together but, we were there in the middle of the summer and there were a couple of open tent sites on one side of us.  The campground is pet friendly and the management is friendly.  The campground is close to Itasca State Park as well.  Others have mentioned that getting in to the campsites near the circle drive area (closest to the lake parking lot) are a little difficult to get into & this is very true.  We have an 8x17 Ice Castle/RV that we pull behind the truck and backing into our spot without disturbing other campers was not an easy task.  The circle drive is right where the last couple of RV sites are sitting and there is a tree at the point of the circle drive so you have to avoid the tree and maneuver around it when backing in.  The sites that are closer to the entrance & the playground that do not have a good view of the lake are easier to get in to.  We used the dump station which is nicely situated on a slope just outside the entrance so it's easy to completely pump out a tank that might sit lower on your unit.  There was a picnic table and campfire ring at each site.

Potential for 5 stars

This place is lovely. It would be especially nice if you had kids to entertain. There is plenty to do here. Bathrooms are clean. We had three small issues. The first issue could have been a big problem but because the park was pretty empty it wasn’t. The very friendly lady that made our reservation got my name, phone number, date of arrival and price all wrong! Perhaps she has dyslexia? It all worked out because the park wasn’t full but if you book here check all the details a few times. The wi-fi password was given to us but we kept getting the error message that the word-fi was unavailable. The only other thing that was annoying was at 5 am I thought someone was mowing the lawn. Turned out be someone was driving around the park in a vehicle that sounded like a lawnmower. It wasn’t a very big vehicle and it had yellow lights on it. Maybe some kind of city vehicle? No more sleep after that. Oh well we got an early start out of there because it woke us up.

Family friendly. In town

This is my husbands favorite place to camp. Nice showers. Camp hosts are always friendly. You can see the beach and the playground from the camper. Boat launch. Docks. Sandy beach. And if you don’t feel like cooking you can get pizza delivered 😁
