50 years of wonderful

We first went to Scenic State Park in 1970. Have tent camped stayed in the Managers House, the cabin, in a pop up camper, and last I stayed in Chase Point .Campground. That time on my RV. Scenic is second to none and we have traveled the world. Lost my love in 2020, so now it is me and my dog.

Quiet serenity

Just got back from a lovely labor day weekend at Scenic State Park. We stayed in the Chase Point campground. Nice and spacious camping plots with a fair amount of trees between neighbors. Still can see neighbors clearly. Super cute trail close to our site, lots of nice wildflowers and scenery. Really my only complaint is the facilities upkeep.. the showers were bogged with cobwebs and bugs and visible filth. And they are supposedly cleaned daily. The outhouses were nice and close to our site but also not well-kept.

Nice campground (chase lake campground)

this was a nice campground and we stayed at, our site was right across from the stairs to the lake. The boardwalk was fun to see the lake on and lots of docks to tie boats up to or swim by. The actual swimming area wasn’t the greatest, and it was in the other campground so not really close to just walk to. We swam with the kids by one of the close docks and that was nice to! The campground was clean and easy to get to bathrooms with fish cleaning house close to our site. I wouldn’t mind camping here again someday (site 4) but I hope they can get rid of the large underground bee hive in the trees of the site (we didn’t have any problems with bees, but they were a title close for comfort with the kids playing). there was a couple hiking trails there, one we had to walk a little ways on the road to get to the other campground area to start.

Fall Camping and Hunting Trip

We camped for Minnesota Grouse Hunting Season. The sites are roomy (boat in, drive in, or backpack available) The Chase Point Trail is gorgeous for hiking!! You are not allowed to bring in your own firewood, but the campground host has bundles of split wood for purchase.

Scenic State Park

Scenic State Park is a one of the best State Parks I have visited so far. The area is gorgeous - the campsite is on Coon Lake, which is one of the thousands lakes in the state. Chase Point is one of the main sites of interest in the vicinity - a couple of miles long narrow peninsula that projects into the lake. The short trail that goes on its ridge provides great views and peaceful surroundings and we ended up hiking to the tip of the peninsula every day of our stay. Other places worth seeing around are the International Wolf Center where one gets face to face (literally) with the great Timber Wolf (Minnesota has the biggest population of wolfs if we don't count Alaska). Voyagers National Park is also a stone's throw away - but bring a boat if you want to see more. The staff is very nice and helpful; the campsite clean. I strongly recommend visiting this place.
