I’d give 0 if I could

This campground used to be all about family and friends.  Camping friends that became family.  40+ years camping there, generation after generation.  So many wonderful people.  But the new owner has changed that camping experience for a lot of people.  Seasonals and reoccurring weekenders.  In fact over the last 2 years he has lost over 40+ seasonal families.  Many who have been there 10,20 even 30yrs.  He has done some much needed improvements but for what he is trying to charge people it’s ridiculous.  Believe all the bad reviews.  And the good reviews, well he pays for those by offering discounts for good reviews or free Wibit passes. The so called lake that he advertises is a nasty little pond that I’m sure is swimming with ecoli .  , the Wibit is small and priced outrageously at more than $35 on most days and is riddled with holes and barely filled with air in most days. Which also makes it dangerous.  The store does not have much to offer and what they do have is priced ridiculous.  There is one bathhouse and a couple nasty outhouses.  The owner also lies so much and thinks everyone else are fools.  He doesn’t live in MI so you won’t ever see him either.  Spend your money somewhere else.  For what he is charging it is not worth it.

Expensive for the area. Expensive lots, wood, & parking

Has gotten increasingly expensive over the past few years with nothing added in for the increases. No longer allowed to bring in local firewood. Must purchase from them. Many lots have flooding and you’re expected to camp in it.

Also beware if you have plans to buy a wristband for the water bounce attraction that it is not for a day that they have contracted to have bus loads of kids coming in to also use it.  Your kids will get knocked off and be afraid and you won’t get your $$ back.

They charge high for everything here. I’m actually surprised the showers are still free. But maybe next year they will charge for that too.

Family week camp

We stayed here for a week long adventure. Very nice set up campsites. They are moderate size. Camefire pits are not secure to ground, are just rings, they are above ground. Camp store has limited selections for supplies. They have a few children's activities such as swimming, volleyball net, basketball court, paddle boat, tube rentals for river. Can also rent canoe's. Playground for kids under 10.

First camping trip! Picked a great place.

We were told to pick a place relatively close by for our first RV trip. We are so glad we picked Walnut Hills Family Campground in MI. We mentioned it was our first trip and the staff fell all over themselves to make sure we were comfortable and that our questions were answered. These are legitimately nice folks who enjoy interacting with campers. The site was large, our neighbors friendly and the overall campground clean. We’ll be back next year for sure.

What started out w/ us almost 2’ under water .....

Poured down rained while setting up to the point we couldn’t step outta our camper without being up past our knees in water!! Good experience overall, when we first reserved on the phone after searching hours for a campground with weekend availability we decided to take a small drive out to take a better look at it only to find out the main bathroom w/ showers were closed... no shower accessibility whatsoever for the weekend of 95 + degree weather!! Would haven’t even known if I hadn’t looked down at a hand written sign below in their store by the register... once we seen that we continued to ask additional questions as to what they closed due to “COVID”.... They seemed to blame everything they closed on that when in reality I believe they either just didn’t want to take the extra precautions as instructed in the Governor’s orders b/c of extra time = extra pay or if it was all together a staffing issue possibly we were unsure but very disappointed as other campgrounds just stepped their game up and ensured they followed protocol w/ the social distancing and extra cleanliness precautions. BUT once we got over that since they already had our $$ we got there that Friday to have it rain almost all night long 2’ deep water right in front of the door as well as probably close to 6’ diameter. Thankfully it all soaked up and we with the kids had a good time n’ made a lot of fun memories!!

Nice grassy sites!

We loved that the area was grassy and not all dirt. The campground had big sites, nice bathrooms, and a great pond to swim in. They had a little arcade and store that sold icees for the kiddos. We were all very happy!

Nice quiet campground

The lower section is the best. We were backed up to the pond with ducks always coming around.  Very peaceful and beautiful.

Not our favorite

Site was difficult to back into - small tree clipped our mirror. Swimming pond crowded and green and mucky. Kids liked video games - lots of seasonal with golf carts.
