The New Kingslanding Kampground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

A spring-fed lake sits at the center of The New Kingslanding Kampground, a privately operated campground in Columbiaville, Michigan that has been running for years under management that campers describe as hands-on. Gas-powered boats are not allowed on the lake, which keeps the water relatively calm and clear for swimming, kayaking, paddle boating, and canoeing. Sites run $25 to $35 per night, with electric and water hookups available for RVs, and day passes are also sold for those who want lake access without staying overnight.

Fishing is a draw here. Multiple reviewers mention the variety of spots along the water's edge, and Sondra B. notes "lots of fishing spots available." Showers, flushing toilets, and drinking water are included in the rate. Pets are welcome. Management enforces rules consistently, particularly those related to camper safety, which some visitors appreciate and others find strict depending on their expectations.

Reviews reflect a campground in transition. Since a change in management, several campers report upgrades and an improved atmosphere, though at least one longer-term visitor flagged the pricing as high relative to what the site provides, and a more recent reviewer raised concerns about owner interactions. The campground tends to work best for families with kids who want direct lake access in a no-motorboat environment. Kings Landing Kampground sits just 0.1 miles east for campers who want a nearby comparison, and Sutter's Recreation Area is another option a few miles northeast.

Beautiful lake and great management!

This campground hasn't always had a great reputation but since new management took over, it has had upgrades and a new crowd of good people! The lake is a spring fed lake with fishing and no gas engines. Its the best swimming in the area! It is also the cheapest in the area!

Great place for community camping

This is a great place! It has been in operation for years. The owners truly care about the campers and the property. Very friendly campers, total sense of community. Free showers, flushing toilets, free water, it’s great. The lake is small, private, and exceptionally clean bc gas powered boats are not allowed. Kayaking, paddle boating, canoeing etc is all permitted. Lots of fishing spots available. Great for families with kids, if they like the outdoors this is where it’s at. Day passes are available also, which is great for just beaching for the day and it is never crowded.

Expect the rules, especially Those pertaining to camper safety, to be strictly enforced.

It could use some modernizing, but to me that’s part of its charm. The owners are updating everything one by one

Not my favorite but can still be fun.

Maybe it’s because I’ve been going here so long since I grew up near by but this place has always seemed kind of like a party spot. It is fun and always people around but it is over priced.
