Sitting along the St. Joseph River on the edge of Berrien Springs, Shamrock Park is a village-operated campground where the river stays in view from most sites. The grounds are largely open with limited shade across much of the property, though tent sites closer to the water get more tree cover. It's a compact setup, around 124 sites total, and the proximity of neighbors is noticeable, particularly during busy holiday weekends when families fill the grounds.
The river is the main draw. Fishing is straightforward from the bank, and the campground includes a dedicated fish-cleaning station with scales, cutting boards, and sinks, a feature that stands out among campgrounds in the region. Brian O. called it "a clean and friendly municipal campground on the St. Joseph River," and that description holds across multiple seasons. There is also an outdoor sink at the restroom building for dishwashing, which tent campers in particular tend to appreciate. One thing to expect along the riverbank: Canada geese, and the droppings that come with them.
Amenities lean practical. Full hookups with electric, water, and sewer are available for RVs up to 70 feet. WiFi is on-site, though cell service draws mixed reviews. Firewood and ice are sold on-site. Recreational options include basketball, volleyball, ping pong, horseshoes, and a playground. There are no camp store or pool facilities. Fire rings are standard at sites, but grills are not included, so bring your own cooking setup if needed. Site lighting from pole lights can spill into campsites, which is worth noting for light-sensitive sleepers.
Reservations are accepted, open year-round, and full hookup sites run around $35 per night at the lower end of the rate range. Pets are welcome. The campground sits within a short walk of a grocery store and several restaurants, and a specialty butcher shop across the river is worth a stop. Nearby options like Frogs 'n Hammocks and Thousand Trails Bear Cave give anglers and paddlers additional bases in the area.
Campers who want quick river access, full hookups, and walkable town amenities will find Shamrock Park a workable fit for a night or a longer stay.
