Description

We think Fuller's Resort and Campground is one of Southwest Michigan's best kept little hide aways. Life is simple here. Kids play, people relax and enjoy family, friends and the great outdoors... The door to the pavilion is crooked, the candy counter still entices kids as it has done for ages, people swim, fish or paddle a kayak across the lake and blue moon and butter pecan ice cream are sold nearly every day... There is just something warm and inviting about this place created by Pete Fuller that has brought people back since 1887. The age of the place gives it charm, generations of families as well as people passing through have come here, sat on the porch of the pavilion and enjoyed a moment. 80 acre spring fed Clear Lake with it's 400 feet of sandy beach, wooded country campground setting and wonderful history in Buchanan, Michigan is waiting for you to enjoy the pleasures of family, friends, campfires, sun, sand and water with us in beautiful Southwestern Michigan.

On the lake

Campground is jammed in with seasonal sites. Some are extremely nice, some are getting pretty rough. You’re on the lake which was awesome.

Nice friendly and relaxing

Friendly staff and owners. The camp store is very cute and geared towards children with small candies and ice cream for them to purchase.

The tenting and trailer sites are a bit cramped, but there is a selection of either open grassy or wooded areas to choose from. we stay at a full hookup site down by the lake entrance.

The beach is very nice and it’s a great lake. Water is warm and the lake is big enough to have boats on it. You can rent canoes & paddle boards, and there’s a section of beach that allows dogs to play and swim as well.

Worst nightmare!

This was truly the worst camping experience of our lives! I preface this review by saying... we love nature and getting in tune with the peaceful, natural elements, with at least a moderate bit of privacy. This campground has no privacy, and is poised for people who are looking for noise, no boundaries and partying. Period. I kid you not, there was an ardent drumming session/performance wailing on until 11:00pm just down the hill from us in the wooded tent area. And then, the 15 people at the site adjacent to us continued to chat loudly (sometimes screaming and clinking their beer bottles) until 2:00 in the morning, despite two polite attempts to quiet them. In other words, no one respected our wishes for a simple night’s sleep. The vibe here is: city dwellers bringing the city to the country! The sites are also mostly dirt, no green patches in the wooded areas. We witnessed people urinating pretty much wherever they liked. Again, this was a very unpleasant place and experience for campers who thrive in places like the BWCA. Perhaps the one redeeming quality is the pretty beach area on the lake. We did not go near it, however, because there were hoards of people, and no one wore a mask or seemed to have any inkling that a pandemic is sweeping the planet. To summit all up in a phrase... “not classy camping”. Avoid, unless the above mentioned appeals to you.

Beautiful setting with with fun lake amenities

We stayed at site 123, and it was very private feeling with a wooded backdrop.  Next time, I'll try to stay at site 124, which is wooded on two sides.  We had water and electric.  Unfortunately, the nearest restroom was a porta-potty, but it worked in a pinch.  There are showers, laundry, and better restroom facilities as short walk away. Mask wearing was very hit or miss.  Maybe 75% of out interactions with staff they wore a mask.  It was rare to see masks on guests and many were not social distancing (especially at the crowded beach).  That being said, you make it what you want.  We stayed to ourselves, wore masks when we were near others, and still had a very enjoyable time.  The boat rentals were a nice plus.  No luck catching fish, and it didn't look like anyone else was either.  The setting was great, and we would definitely stay here again without hesitation.  The sunset on the beach was beautiful!

Most beautiful site

The site was stunning. We had no idea we would have our own private site and beach, I wish we couldve stayed a month. There was only one bathroom (due to Covid), but not really a line ever. The black flies were awful on the beach. I heard a site or two back they were fine.

Lovely beach and friendly staff! Crystal clear lake!

Beautiful beach. Crystal clear waters and soft sand. Great for kids! Excellent site too although we needed a bobcat to help us in and out, but the owner is super friendly and assisted us with no problem at all. The acres has lots of sites tucked away in the woods and many out in the open sun too! Rental trailers and cabins right on the lake too. Great ice cream too. We will be back!
