Been coming here for years…

We love the area. Very nice people, well run campground. Staying on Lake Superior is almost always beautiful. Sunsets are amazing!! The sites are generous and partially wooded. Drawbacks, no laundry facilities, even in town. Stores, restaurants and gas stations nearby but expensive. (Though there is a dollar store) They do not take reservations, so it’s a gamble to just show up. You really have to be there, in person by 7AM to wait in line to get a site.

Overall, great place to stay!!

Close to Lake Superior

We stayed for a night while road-tripping north, and the proximity to Lake Superior was a wonderful surprise. Snagged a tent site day-of on the loop across the road. Cold morning swim at the beach down the road to wake up.

Life saver — if timed right !

No reservations, that’s on us. Looked at several after driving around all day sight-seeing. We called the number on the listing; got a pre-recorded message from the township. Decided to check it out in person. First, camping is divided up; two loops on beach side of the road, two loops on the non-beach side. We nabbed the last place on the beach side and could see Lake Superior from the site. Camp hosts were very accommodating considering we roll in just as they’re locking up shop around 8:00pm. Got us checked in and sold us firewood. We quickly set up and were on the beach in minutes. The water felt so good, we ran back up and got into trunks to swim. Brisk but totally swimmable. The beach was sandy, the lake-bottom sandy/small pebbles (no aqua-socks needed). The beach wasn’t AS pretty as other places we’d been but still had spectacular views. The trash was nearby, showers and flushing toilets a quick minute walk to other loop. Fire rings in each site and power/water posts (no generators, yay!). It’s worth driving over to see if they have a spot!

We loved staying here!

We loved our stay here! Close to the porcupines, super friendly staff and right on the water!

We originally tried to stay in porcupine mountain state park, we drove through the campground and were not terribly impressed. Then we found out it was full so we drove over to check out the township park.  The gentleman in the office asked what we were looking for and suggested a couple of sites we should look at, we found one that we really liked, site 4. We backed the truck up and Lake Superior was our backdrop for a few days.

The showers are pay showers but are clean like the modern bathrooms. They also have pit toilets around the campground.

There is a playground and disc golf in the area and lots of other things to do.

Great base camp for the areas attractions

We got lucky and landed a spot at this campground when on a trip to the upper Peninsula. The sunsets on the sandy beach that is connected to the campground were a highlight. My wife enjoyed that there were clean shower and toilet facilities. I would be fine at a more rustic camp site deep in the woods but my wife and daughter definitely appreciated the beach and playground. If we are back in that area I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

Superior Campground

Wonderful campground beside Lake Superior. We had a site backed up to the lake and enjoyed the sound of Lake Superior waves! Quiet and friendly, this campground is great for those who enjoy Up North in Michigan (like us!). Lots of places to walk our four legged camper (and us!) Plenty of room to pull in and park our 42 ft motor home! No WiFi but our ATT allowed us to remain connected and our Dish satellite had a good signal. There are bathrooms and areas for group camping. We would not hesitate to camp here again!

Incredible place!

This place is upscale! It will cost a bit more but offers so much! $30 for a lakeside site, $23 for others. Lake Superior is gorgeous in July and the weather is fantastic.

They offer a very nice children's play area, frisbee golf, and accommodations for equestrians. The majority of the campsites are beachfront and offer full hookups. There is a tent area as well, but the large sites can be used as well. Shower facilities are well maintained. Firewood and ice are available for purchase. There are several bathroom throughout the camp but the showers are centralized.

This is first come first serve and is a busy place. There were available sites mid week. 16 day stay limit.
