Mason County Campground

Quiet nights and a single-loop layout define the experience at Mason County Campground in Ludington, Michigan. The compact design keeps the campground manageable in size, and multiple reviewers note that rowdy crowds are rarely an issue here. Firewood is available on-site, though at least one camper flagged that it tends to run green, so bringing your own may be worth considering.

The campground runs year-round and provides full hookups including electric, water, and sewer, along with a dump station and WiFi that reviewers describe as carrying a strong signal. Showers are coin-operated, costing roughly $0.25 per seven minutes. Bathrooms and shower facilities draw consistent praise for cleanliness across multiple visits and seasons. A playground and a sheltered picnic area round out the on-site infrastructure. Dogs are welcome on leash.

"Clean, quiet, and friendly," is how Heather N. sums up nearly two decades of return visits. Staff and rangers receive repeated mentions in reviews for being approachable and helpful. The loop layout also lends itself to casual bike riding within the campground itself.

Campers using this site as a base can explore hiking and other recreation throughout the area, and those researching camping near Ludington will find a range of nearby options. For a different setup, Buttersville Park Campground sits a few miles to the northwest and may suit campers looking for an alternative configuration.

Clean, quiet, and friendly

Been coming to this campground almost 20 years. As title states: clean, quiet, and friendly. Many places to see and hike in the area. Flush toilets and pay showers. Showers are .25 per 7 minutes. Great little gem.

Quiet and great for family camping

We’ve gone to this campground ever since it became impossible to get reservations at Ludington State Park. Absolutely beautiful. Bathrooms are always well maintained, the playground is fun for all ages, area with tables with a shelter near by, great trails and much more. The campground is in a single loop, perfect for bike riding. We’ve never once had an issue with people getting rowdy or experienced a “party crowd”. Everyone is always friendly and rangers are amazing. We look forward to staying here every year!

quite family campground

We stayed here in 2018. It's a small one loop campground. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. It was quite and clean. They had free WiFi with a strong signal. Dogs are allowed, but must be on a leash at all times. Firewood is available onsite, but it's very green. Showers and bathrooms are clean, but $.75 per shower. I would definitely go back.
