Eight miles down a dirt road that branches off another dirt road, Blockhouse Campground sits at the far end of a route with reported major washouts. No outhouse, no picnic tables, and no fire rings are present on site. Cell service is unavailable. Among campgrounds around Ottawa National Forest, this one draws almost no traffic, which is its defining characteristic. Horse flies have been reported as a significant issue in summer. Campers who prioritize solitude over amenities are the most likely fit here.
