This hike-in campsite requires advance reservations through the National Park Service and prohibits pets. Located along the C&O Canal towpath, campers must carry gear to reach the designated overnight area. The site provides drinking water and toilet facilities, uncommon amenities for backcountry camping.
One visitor noted reliable cell service at this location after experiencing dead zones for 25-30 miles along the canal route. The campsite serves hikers and cyclists traveling the canal's detour section. Nearby options include Paw Paw Tunnel Campground — Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park just half a mile northeast. This spot works well for long-distance canal travelers needing a resupply point with connectivity.
