Swimming off a rocky Maine beach, watching seals surface in the channel, and boiling fresh lobster bought from the on-site lobsterman are among the activities that draw campers back to Oceanfront Camping @ Reach Knolls in Brooklin. The campground sits along a bay with direct water access, a floating swim platform, and a path to the shore that crosses two small metal bridges. Water view sites are limited, and they go fast. Book well ahead if an ocean-facing site is the priority.
Site quality varies considerably across the property. Reviewers consistently single out sites 8, 10, and 12 for unobstructed views of the ocean and Deer Isle bridge, while other sites range from wooded and secluded to closely spaced with less privacy. One reviewer noted a particularly cramped site in the H section that left little usable space around a small trailer, so it is worth asking specifically about site dimensions when booking, especially for rigs near the 35-foot maximum. As Grace B. puts it, the campground was "quiet with spaced out sites and had a really nice outdoor shower."
Facilities are modest but well maintained. Restrooms are permanent wood-shed privies rather than standard flush toilets, and showers include both indoor and outdoor enclosed options near the office. Flies can be a nuisance at the privies during warmer months. Electric hookups are available, and a dump station is on site. The campground also has a rope swing near the office. Rates run $29 to $39 per night, and pets are welcome.
The location is rural. Deborah W. notes it plainly: "The location is very rural so little nearby things to do or places to eat." Campers who want day-trip options can reach Acadia and Mount Desert Island without an unreasonable drive, and the Blue Hill peninsula provides a lower-key alternative. Nearby options include Sunshine Campground and The Big House for those exploring campsites outside Sedgwick more broadly. Early fall visits have earned particular praise for lighter crowds and good conditions on the beach.
