This National Park Service lean-to sits within Katahdin Woods And Waters National Monument, offering backcountry shelter along Katahdin Brook. The three-sided structure provides basic overhead protection and serves as a designated camping spot for hikers and paddlers exploring the monument's trail system.
Access requires hiking or paddling into the area, as no vehicle camping is available at this primitive site. The lean-to operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations accepted. Campers should prepare for backcountry conditions and pack out all waste. The Wassataquoik Lean-to provides another shelter option deeper in the monument for those planning extended stays.
