Percy Quin State Park — Percy Quinn State Park

    Will camp here again

I am a beginning solo tent camper with a lot to learn. Percy Quin is a nice state run campground. Some sites are closer together and less shaded than others. It rained and most sites seem to have decent drainage with no puddles. Not all sites have grills or fire pits. There is a laundry room and the bathrooms next to that are air conditioned-not sure about all of them.

    Spot 124 is great!

We stayed at site 124 in “Bottomland” and we loved it. New “deck” with room for a rug, fire pit, and chairs. The deck also has a picnic table with a fire pit just off the edge. There’s a creek that ran behind the spot that kept my husband busy. The only downside is that the water and electricity plug are pretty far from your camper- you may need to pack your extender.

    Tickfaw State Park Campground

True Louisiana atmosphere, fun for every age!

Every time we visit this park (which is a lot) we are able to have a new and fun adventure!

When my children were very young. This was one of the first places in the area to have a splash park for my children to run and play while staying cool in the south Louisiana heat.

Move up a few years, Tickfaw has provided myself and children with hours of fun, safe and informative hikes along the well maintained boardwalks through South Louisiana swamps.

As my children have grown we have still been able to explore the park further by utilizing the campgrounds! The tent camping section has defined/ private tent sites with picnic tables, and parking next to each site. The Rv park also boost a fun and family atmosphere, with fishing ponds, bike riding, canoeing, and primitive hiking. All with clean and air conditioned restroom facilities easily accessible to all sites.

    Percy Quin State Park Campground

Would be great if not for the rain

Unfortunately our trip was clouded by the rain...pun intended.  As is typical for the Gulf Coast South... it rained and rained and rained.  There were breaks that allowed for us to get out and do a few things.  We went to the "beach" and the kids enjoyed it.  Dont think of the beach as the typical sandy beaches on coasts, instead this is a lake beach with grass.  Under water though was fine.  Quite clean and no debris.

There is a pool also, but it was closed at the time because of coronavirus.  Hopefully if we go back, it will be open then.

This particular site was very close to the water, which is why we chose it, however immediately next to our camper was a very steep drop off which made it impossible to set up our camper mat and outdoor cooking supplies next to our outdoor kitchen.  We wouldn't choose that site again.

    Land-O-Pines Family Campground

    Pleasant campground

Land-O-Pines is a nice private RV park near Folsom and Covington. We stayed two nights because my daughter was in a horse competition at a nearby horse farm. The sites are mostly shady. The streets and sites are gravel and can get a little muddy in spots after a rain. The park was clean and quiet, and the staff was friendly. About half the sites are for permanent users.

Stayed in pull-through campsite C69 which was shady and level. It was a gravel site. There was enough parking for my 34 ft TT and truck. Neighbors are nearby by not on top of you. The site included: picnic table on gravel, no fire ring. Utilities: 20/50A electric near the middle. The 20A receptacle looked like it had some minor burn marks. Water next to power pole, good pressure. Sewer near power pole with 4 non screw-on fitting.

AT&T had 2 bars of LTE and Verizon full bars of LTE service. AT&T Speedtest: 30.8 Mbps down, 3.6 Mbps up. Verizon Speedtest: 4.5 Mbps down, 11.8 Mbps up. WiFi available, but did not use. Required a login.

Would stay here again. We camped at Land-O-Pines Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

    Hidden Oaks Family Campground

    Looks like a blast!

Traveling through for the night. Just a few minutes from the interstate. Spacious sites. Friendly staff. They are upgrading many things in the park like electric, location of setups, etc. Has fishing and more. This park looks like a blast to come to on holidays for the family. They already have Christmas decorations up, a train ride ready and more! No doubt a great place to bring the family. Will stop by next time through. Hope it's when festivities are going.

    Tickfaw State Park Campground

Highly recommended, but busy on weekends.

Went for a few nights solo camping (with my dog) in late January, so we had the tent area to ourselves until Friday afternoon. Really impressed with the cleanliness of the grounds, but some of the fire pits and grills could use some work. Great variety of campsite layouts, as well as a couple of wheelchair friendly ones. Facilities were clean and plentiful. Several miles of trails showcasing the beauty of southern Louisiana. Will definitely be going back.

    Hidden Oaks Family Campground

    Fun family campground

this campground has been around for a long time.  It has great festive activities for the seasonal holidays and a general laid back mind set year round.  Halloween decorations were in full effect.  The campground has a river running through it making it a great option to go up river and kayak back down.

The campground is split into 2 sides - primitive and RV.  A general store sits in the middle for any necessities.  We setup our tent area in the primitive area near the river/beach area.  It has many trails to walk through, open areas for activities, bath houses, and more.

    Bogue Chitto State Park Campground

    Better than expected

Our site was perfect for us. Plenty of shade at our particular site. Pad was wide enough without a slope coming out of either door. Fire pit was in a nice location and the picnic table was huge. Family was able to do plenty of bike riding around the park with only one monster hill. The park was full but spread out enough to enjoy our on space. The river area was crowded due to the day users but we found a area to keep our distance. There are some really nice sites in the upper portion of the park. The lower portion is not really ideal for our 36ft TT. But if you had a small unit it may be perfect for you. Staff was extremely friendly. We will definitely return to this park.
