Kisatchie National Forest manages Pearson Camp, a free primitive site in central Louisiana that stays open year-round. Vault toilets are on-site. It sits within a forested stretch of the national forest designated for hunters during hunting season, making it a quieter destination for general camping in the off-season. Pets are permitted. Nearby, Saddle Bayou Camp Complex and Hunter's Camp on Highway 472 offer comparable no-frills options within the same forest system. Pearson Camp works best for campers comfortable with minimal infrastructure who want free, low-impact access to Louisiana's national forest land.
