Bankston Camp Complex operates year-round within Kisatchie National Forest, managed by the US Forest Service with drive-in access and basic amenities including toilets and ADA accessibility. The campground allows pets, campfires, and alcohol, making it accessible to a range of camping preferences. One recent visitor noted the forested setting and lack of crowds during a late January stay, suggesting campers can find solitude here during cooler months.
The site sits among other Forest Service camps, with Hunter's Camp on Highway 472 located 2.4 miles north for those seeking additional options. Campers exploring the broader region can find places to camp around Kisatchie National Forest throughout this extensive woodland area. The combination of year-round availability and forest service management appeals to campers comfortable with basic facilities in a wooded environment.
