Excellent Campground

Very clean campground, the marina is great and easy access to the lake. We kayak and it was great being that close to the lake and the campsites have plenty of room.

Paintsville Lake State Park

We made a reservation for two sites next to each other and we’re glad we did since it filled up (August). They have full electricity and hookups at all the sites and some have great lake views. The lake was lots of fun (rented paddle boats from the camp manager, volleyball, some other sports fields) and they have an actual restaurant it’s a great family fun camp site, not so good a choice for wilderness solitude experiences.

quiet

loved it, great time

walk in

This park is so beautiful in autumn! Even if a person comes for a picnic only a couple of hours they will enjoy the scenery. The hike-in tent sites are nice. I did expect a bit more privacy from a walk-in site but it was not busy when we were there, so it wasn’t a great issue. If it was busy, that may have impacted our experience greatly! There is a nice dock area if you have a boat otherwise there isn’t a whole lot to do (no hiking or anything like that). But an okay place to escape for a bit :) (the photo posted by another reviewer is a great view of the tent sites!)

Great campground

Is any camp site really bad? It's always great to get outdoors!

I haven't been in several years but I remember that I loved these sites do to easy access to the lake. My only complaint is that the lake gets crowded with motor boats toward mid day. This makes the water choppy and difficult for kayaking and other sports.
