Jenny Wiley State Park
Jenny Wiley State Resort Park offers something for everyone. With 1,100-acre Dewey Lake, the park is a water lovers's paradise. If fishing or boating isn't your style, consider taking in a Broadway-style show at the popular Jenny Wiley Theatre. Geography: This mountain resort is named for the legendary pioneer woman Jenny Wiley. Taken captive by Indians in 1789, Wiley endured the slaying of her brother and children and escaped after 11 months of captivity. Imagine our heroine eluding her captors as you hike the trails that weave through the wilderness. Recreation: The park's Dewey Lake has largemouth and hybrid striped bass, bluegill, catfish, and crappie. The boat dock offers 199 open slips, three launching ramps, and pontoon boat rental. Hiking trails provide over thirteen miles of hiking for all ability levels. The Jenny Wiley Trail Heritage Byway embraces a 154-mile loop drive in Eastern Kentucky. The route provides easy access to more than 60 miles of existing recreational facilities, such as hiking trails. The lodge pool is for the exclusive use of overnight guests. Daily summer activities and year-round special events are planned for children and adults, under the guidance of a trained recreation director. The newest addition at Jenny Wiley is an 18-hole championship disc golf course! If you prefer regular golf, Stonecrest Golf Course is located adjacent to the park. Facilities: Experience the secluded beauty of the 49-room May Lodge, surrounded by towering pines and peaceful mountains. For private accommodations, enjoy a one or two-bedroom cottage. Tableware, cooking utensils, and linens are provided, with fresh linens available daily. The May Lodge Dining Room serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and two private dining facilities each accommodate up to 70 people. The lodge contains two meeting rooms that each accommodate 125 guests, in addition to the meeting space in the Wilkinson/Stumbo Conference Center, a modern meeting facility adjacent to the amphitheatre, which may be divided into three separate meeting/banquet rooms to accommodate a total of 500-800 people, theater or banquet-style. Browse the lodge gift shop. True outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the 121-site campground, which has utility hookups, two central service buildings with showers and restrooms, a grocery store, and a dump station.
