      Love this place!

Great hosts, quiet camping location, 5 minute drive into town. No, it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles, but we don’t need all that stuff. I’d rather pay a cheaper price than to stay at a place with activities going on all the time and so much noise you can’t enjoy the countryside.

      Wonderful!!

I stayed in spot 87 for 4 days. It was a clean camp with all kinds of variety of camping spots. The only reason is not getting 5 stars is bc it's right on the Interstate, and that noise wasn't the most peaceful. There were a ton of things for kids and families to do. There was a pool, playground, pond, etc. There were some really cool wagon tents, teepee's, and actual tree houses.

      Louisville South KOA

      Clean and fun. Nice location.

My family visited Louisville South at the beginning of June for an extended family trip.

Pros- Lots of activities for kids. Nice pool, great playground, bounce pad. Bike rental. Decent (not spectacular) hiking trails. The RV sites with patio were very nice, but could be bigger.

Cons- some (not all) of the staff. One lady in particular was always rude, and didn’t like answering questions. There was a security light for the bounce pad that was on all night long, and thoroughly illuminated the adjacent tent sites. My brother’s family of 6 did not sleep well. This is something that is easily corrected by installing a shade over one edge of the light, but the staff didn’t seem to care.

      Good quiet place to stay

If you’re looking for a quiet campground in a semi-rural setting, this is the place for you. No frills, full hookups for 50 amp. No laundry on site and only one local laundromat. Super Walmart and Kroger within 5 or so miles. There’s a lake on-site but requires a medium sized hike downhill and through undergrowth. Shade is at a premium as there aren’t many trees.

      Depends when you go

We rented a cabin during the off-season and our cabin was cute - very old fashioned. What we found out quickly that was everything was pretty much closed, including the main lodge restaurant that we had hoped to eat at.

The indoor pool WAS open and a pretty decent size. Our kids had a blast romping around in it and the next day we hiked one of the Park trails and were able to do some geocaching, which they loved.

It would be a longish walk to the Lodge pool from the cabins. I don’t know if everyone has a golf cart in the summer, but I imagine it gets packed. There was some really cool larger cabins and at least the section we were in, you had a nice view of the marina.

We found the view of the lakes beautiful and would absolutely go back a bit more during the season to take advantage of the lake activities. I say that even though we found mice droppings in our kitchen - the staff took care of it right away and gave us a partial refund.

      Great place to stay

The staff are super helpful. The site we had was for a 38’ RV. Full hookups, dog park, lots of places to walk, even trails. We had a great stay here and will most likely come back next time we’re near Louisville.

      Our childhood camping location

Loved this campground growing up! We tent camped and our relatives RV camped. However they have cut down most of the trees, the facilities aren’t maintained very well and the campground/park looks more run down than ever. It’s sad but I hope they update and maintain it more in the future.

      It's a comfortable parking lot

This review is just about the campground not the lake or area surrounding it. The campground sites are ample but nothing special. I'd call them small to medium. Very few trees. Probably not a place I will visit a second time

      Not clean

Stayed overnight here just for a quick stop on our way from Wisconsin to the Smokey Mountains … bathrooms were in pretty rough shape and not cleaned at all. For the price it’s not terrible, but not clean at all.

      Very nice campground

We stayed at this KOA many years ago on our way home. I again needed an overnight stop on our way home & booked here again. WOW! things have changed.

We got a fabulous patio site that was twice the size of our camper. It had a gorgeous view of the Kentucky hills. Full hook up.

The sites all looked very nice. They had teepees, covered wagons & a couple of treehouses. A nice area for tents as well.

The pond is catch & release.

      The pool wasn't open yet.

The bathrooms were outstanding! Recently remodeled? Clean as well.

They had a nice camp store I really didn't get to explore.

      So many activities for kids.

The worst thing I can say about it is there is highway noise from I-65, but really I feel we've had worse.

Looks like a nice base camp for the surrounding area.

Thanks office ladies for the Derby pie!

      Local hang out

The facilities are fine. I was in the primitive area and they are OK. But don't come here expecting peace and quiet. There is constant traffic to the water area some blasting music and at night kids are running around on golf carts non-stop. I left a day earlier than planned because I couldn't even here my little radio over the bass blasting from someone several hundred yards away.

Zero grass here... no attendant, no one answers phone

I don't see how there could be tent camping here, there's no grass. But I wouldn't be able to verify anyway because there was no attendant in the office at 10 am on a Monday morning. No one answers the phone. Doesn't seem like much of a business.

Tent sites stink here, $50+, very expensive

Tent sites: steep hill with rodents living there. Gravel driveway leading to tent sites: a trench sure to rip the exhaust off your car. The RVers and workers: they make it obvious you are beneath them. Pets allowed: you WILL be up all night with the barking chihuaua on the next site. Airplanes flying over head as you are getting ready to sleep. Traverse the lawn to the faraway bathroom to ruin your shoes at 2am. Laundry on-site but the workers will scowl while you use it. Catch all this ire for the grand old price of $50+ per night.

      Horrible experience, nasty owners

Horrible place with very hateful, nasty owners. They lied to me on a booking website, insulted me for asking about discrepancies in what's advertised, would not describe what's inside the cabin and, because I asked questions about the place, called me bigoted stuff, called me not an American knowing I'm a US citizen, and later kept messaging me their hate on the booking site, harassing me.

      Very Accommodating

Very nice campground the tent sites even have electric and water but my advice is try not to setup tent near the little pond they have, it stinks. Showers are great, if your tall like me, your gonna have to bend a knee to get underneath the shower head. LOL bathroom water pressure could be better. Very affordable!

      White Acres Review

Good middle of the road campground. Water and power were reliable. Difficult to contact office for follow up information at times (not manned, but manager on premise). Facility is showing its age and not being well maintained.

We spent a couple days there and it serves its purpose as a home port for visiting distilleries in the Bardstown, KY area.

Be sure to ask for the shaded side if the park. Half of the sites are in an open field with not a single tree. The other half is reasonably shaded.

      Lake Shelby Campground

      Small and quiet

Only 10 RV spots, 9 have electric and water hook ups (which is what we had). It was awesome backing into the spot as there is ample asphalt in front of all the sites. The lake is peaceful. To dump afterward was OK to get in but it is a tighter fit and that's the reason for the 4 stars. It would be nice if you could pull through to dump but you have to back in. We stayed here as an overnight halfway spot so we really didn't want to hang out in our spot much. The sites are close to one another but it did not bother me.

      Horse Cave KOA

      Small and quiet

This is a smaller campground which is why it might be pretty quiet. It is close to the freeway (we could see in our spot) so you hear the road but I don't mind that noise. The pool was well kept and the kids loved the jumping pillow and the little farm on the premises. We only stayed two nights as part of a bigger trip. It seems a lot of the people who stay here just stay a night or two. I would totally stay here again.

Check in was easy and friendly, a fair number of open sites, the lake is really pretty, the showers were pretty decent. Other Campers were well behaved and it was fairly peaceful. 1/2 the park has good shade, the other half has no shade.
