Riverview City Park

River View City Park houses Riverview City Park, a municipal campground managed by the City of Clinton that sits directly between downtown Clinton and the Mississippi River. The campground operates as a paved area with full hookups, providing electric, water, and sewer connections along with amenities like showers and a dump station.

Campers find themselves in an urban setting with minimal shade and extensive pavement, creating what one reviewer described as "like a parking lot between town and the river." The sites feature hard pads, picnic tables, and fire rings, though the layout prioritizes utility access over natural screening. A walking trail runs along the waterfront where visitors can watch boat traffic heading toward the Mississippi. Fast food restaurants and other services lie within walking distance of the campground.

Train noise presents a consistent consideration, with locomotives passing every few hours throughout the day and night. "The one negative is noise from trains," notes one camper who otherwise enjoyed the convenience and river access. The campground provides a practical base for exploring places to camp near River View City Park or accessing nearby attractions like the Clinton Riverfront Park and marina facilities.

The setup works best for RV travelers prioritizing full hookups and urban convenience over natural surroundings, particularly those with boats looking to access the Mississippi River system.

Campers regularly cited full hookups and convenient amenities as positives. However, many mentioned the paved, parking lot-like setting with no shade and frequent train noise as drawbacks.

No shade between river and town

We agree with the other review that this campground is like a parking lot between town and the river. There is lots of pavement and no shade. We stayed for a bit looking around before deciding this wasn’t our type of place. The trail along the water is nice but quite sunny. We watched some of the boats moving along towards the Mississippi. Perhaps this would be a better experience if we had a boat. The campground is right in town. Many places are within walking distance. This could add some positivity.

Good except for trainsj

This campground has Water and electric hook ups and a dumpsite. It is convenient and enjoyable. It is right next to the river and the Clinton Riverfront Park and even fast food restaurants are within walking distance. There is also a walking path next to the river. The one negative is noise from trains. One seems to go by every few hours.
