Nice, Quiet Campground

Got to the campground around 6pm on a Friday and no one was at the primitive campground which was nice. The picnic table and fire ring were clean and in good condition. By 10:30 the park was quiet and peaceful. Lake hasn't completely filled up yet so no fishing or boating. Would definitely come back.

It’s yuge

It’s a large park with lots of places to camp and hike. The lake right now is being restored but it’s looking like they will be done maybe by end of the summer. There are really nice bathrooms and even a tornado shelter. Lots of hookups for electrical sites.

There are playgrounds for the kids and shelter/picnic areas for day trips with the little ones. There are lodges available also.

There will be from the looks of it a place to rent boats and a nice beach to hang out. There was lots of boat ramps and places to put in if your on a kayak.

Little patch of heaven

We go camping at Breezy Bay and it’s our favorite. We tent camp, so the modern bathrooms (with showers!!) is a huge plus. The spots are some of the biggest we’ve seen at any campground, so there aren’t many and it’s almost always quiet. Lots of trees for shade but the lake has trails and a swimming beach with watercraft rentals. Truly a hidden gem in central Iowa!

Lakeside spots, hiking, biking, fishing, canoeing swimming or just relaxing

About half of the camping spots are now reservable online, the rest are first come. The park is well established with plenty of trees for shade. The lake isn’t large but does provide space for canoeing, kayaking and small fishing boats (only trolling motors allowed). The shower house and restroom was new in 2017, is large with private shower rooms and serves as a tornado shelter. This is our second year camping and so far this is our favorite campground!

Small, Nice Campground

This campground is great now that you are able to make reservations online! They have a small "lake" that is great for swimming, fishing, kayaking and canoeing. Rentals for paddle boats, water bikes, kayaks and canoes are available during the summer for a reasonable price. Small fishing boats are allowed on the lake with out gas motors.

The sites vary in size, all of them seem ample. The best sites, in my opinion, are along the lake. There are a few fishing and boat docks to use there.

Hickory Grove has several hiking trails where your are able to see many different animals. Sometimes they have goats out to contain some invasive plant species!
