Staff was extremely helpful as this was our first trip with the new camper. Was very quiet. Clean shower and bathroom.

    Worst place to stay at

Highway is louder than you’d think. No good night rest had. People spy on you just to report you. Main office head woman will not work with you and just give you a flat no when you ask about a refund.

    Friendly park security

We arrived late, and the friendly park security directed us to the campground.

The vault toilets were acceptably clean. Spots were close to the river. The campground has cabins, trails for hiking and horseback riding.

As other reviews have stated….the mosquitoes are prolific and abundant! We left early.

    Off The Trail Campground

    Lots of fun!

We stayed in buddy sites 81 and 82. Buddy sites are large, have full hookup, fire pits, and picnic tables. Lots of dogs around, pricing was about $50 a night per site. Restrooms had showers as well which made it easy to rinse off the mud. Great time all around.

Great Historic Area, great one night stay!!

We booked a primitive site, on a Friday night. We arrived and were the only ones in the primitive area, which for us was awesome. We got set up and was able to go for a walk and check out the trails, buildings, and the village. Everything was perfect. The host was so friendly, she came over and talked and gave us some background on the location, and things we could do for future visits. The shower, and bathrooms were nice, and clean, as was all areas of the campground.

Hickory Hills Campground at Bass Lake

    AWFUL!

We just went there last night and woke up came home immediately! There was nothing to do at all! A run down park, lake and sites. There was boards with nails just laying all around the park. Not to mention the park was falling apart. It was more of a trailer park than a camping site. The garbage can was overflowing all over the ground. We payed for 2 nights and owner never got back to me to get our money back for tonight! Would not recommend one bit.

    Tippecanoe River State Park Campground

Very good state park and cabin campground

We visited this park twice (once in Sept 2020 and again in June 2021).  Both times we stayed in the cabin campground and both times had very good experiences.  Each time we went mid-week so there was hardly anyone else there, and that was great.  The cabins are small but perfectly fine for our group with two bunk beds, a small loft, and a small table inside.  They have electricity so charging phones and devices is not a problem.   Cabins 4 and 5 are up this small driveway and are slightly separated and I would recommend those if you can.  We never had to go to "town" so not sure how far it is to any stores.

Each time we rented a canoe and did a paddle/float trip on the river that ended at the canoe rental location.  Would not hesitate to stay here again.

    Would stay again!

Privately-owned and just a short distance from Indiana Dunes. The owner was very nice and helpful at check-in. There were several open spots on that rainy Sunday, so we were allowed to pick any open spot. Some spots were out in the open, others along the tree line, and a few in the woods. All sites had a picnic table, fire ring, and seemed fairly level.

    Handy to amusement park

Check in quick and easy. Campsite level and clearly marked. Ours was a full hookup site and everything worked as should. A big bonus was that there is a shuttle bus that runs to the amusement park every half hour. The park has security that roams through the park which was a plus. Had T-mobile cell service but weak.

    Over crowded and rude workers

A group of us go camping at least 1 time a month and we were excited to find a campground with so many amenities very close to home. As soon as I pulled up the lady registering me couldn’t care less that I was there. It was like I was bothering her. She was more concerned what was going on on her phone. Then heading back to the site the park was entirely too crowded. They packed these spots in like sardines. The “security” was a joke. Our kids got yelled at 3 times for riding bikes. But they didn’t do anything with the drunks behind us making noise until 3am. Extremely disappointing and we will not be going back. We will warn everyone we know about this campground.

    It’s a trailer park

I couldn’t believe they pass this off for a campground. People live there full time. And it’s red neck.

Potowatomi Campground — Kankakee River State Park

Simple state park along the river

Potowatami campground is divided into four loops. We camped in the Osage loop. Garbage cans are at the start of the loop. A central shower house is on the main road midway between the loops. Right at the start of Osage is an entrance to the crushed gravel bike path. It gave us a great hike through the trees. You can find picnic areas and playground equipment by following the bike path. The camp host checks you in. He gave us the signal in case we drive out of camp. Wave the sign out your window and re-enter camp. He also told us about rock creek nature trail. It’s just across the main road near the ranger office entrance. There are another couple miles of trails if you want some diversity.

    Nice on a Thursday

First off the camp hosts were amazing! Very friendly and helpful!

Ok. Came in on a Thursday with no reservations. Camp Hosts got me a spot for Thursday and only had 2 available spots in the whole campground for the weekend so I took Oak 1 over the only other open spot.
Thursday night was GREAT. It was quiet and peaceful. Had a great day chilling on Friday during the day too. Friday afternoon people started funneling in and it still wasn’t too bad into the evening.

About 8 is when it got a little worse. There was a group that came in and occupied 2 sites. They were a little more loud but bearable. About 9:45 another part of their group came rolling in. That’s when it wasn’t as nice. They were trying to set up their tent with headlights/flashlights shining into our camp. Yelling back and forth between the 3 sites, etc. Finally I think the quieted down about midnight. Saturday. Still loud and a few of the cars in their group were in and out several times. Not a big deal except every time they were driving out a one way.

    Day 2&3

Campground very nice. One of the smaller ones I’ve stayed at. No pool still in process of getting permits for it. However 15 min drive there are multiple beaches you can go to on Lake Michigan. We went to the dune’s national park and it was awesome for swimming all day and playing in the sand for the kids.

    Clean and Quiet

My sister and I stayed one night at this campground because the Indiana Dunes National and State parks were full. It is a pretty place and not too far from the parks. We felt completely safe and would stay there again. One note: the pool was closed. We didn’t mind but I’m sure that’s a draw for other campers. I would inquire to see if it’s open, if you care.

    Lakeshore Camp Resort

    Amenity camping

It offers all the amenities you could want for a weekend get away. A lake with water rentals, floating water slide, playgrounds and sport courts, general store with the stardust’s “convenience mark-ups”,and water/ electric at all sites. However, if you’re looking for a true camping experience or to visit the Indiana Dunes, you’ll make little use of the amenities and find the sites small and area as well the sites and bath houses overcrowded. It really offers anything a family would want for a weekend trip so depending on the goal for your trip, this could have everything you would need or leave you feeling less than fully satisfied.

    Very nice campground

I had primitive camp almost all to myself. The site i picked was right on the river. Owners are super nice people and well are the staff. Only issue i had was last night there a few loud locals decided to set up camp next to me at 10pm and leave then came back continued to be loud and leave again.

    Good maiden voyage

Our very first trip in our new pop up camper. Our site was sunny in the morning and early afternoon with some shade beginning late afternoon. Had a concrete patio under the picnic table. The table was oversized, which was kind of nice, except our covers wouldn’t fit. Nearest bath house was okay, but definitely showing it’s age, including broken mirrors. Showers are temporary valve type without adjustable temperature.

Splash pad was really nice, but a few elements were not working. Pool at neighboring KOA is supposed to be available, but was under repair. Seems like a lot of little things like that could use some attention here. You do get a discount on amusement park/water park tickets with a two night stay, and there’s a free shuttle.

Overall it was a good stay and we would return, but would like to see some more attention to the facilities.

    Indiana Beach Campground

    Not bad not great

We used to go here every summer like clockwork but the last few time the add on have become ridiculous to the point it was cheaper to stay in a resort than go camping here. Overall it’s nice but very commercial. Not well regulated as far and camper conduct. Witnessed several fights and drunken behavior. Cars tearing out through the night. The campground is great but the people make it difficult and for the price it’s just not worth it.

    Nice park, good sites

We enjoyed our stay here, but I expect a KOA site to be a little cleaner.  Not terrible, but there was trash at our site.

A little bit noisy from some cars and Quads racing up and down the road (not the highway, but the road near the KOA.

There was a game room with laundry attached, had plenty of room to visit with family during the rain.

Bathrooms were clean and had nice showers.

Nothing too fancy here but, it was an overall good experience.

    Sand Creek Campground

    Campground near the dunes

We camped here for 3 nights to visit the Dunes National Park.

The campground is privately owned and was almost at the end of the season. There is a check in station at the entrance.

When we arrived we were the only tent campers, so we could pick our spot. Non of the tent sites have electricity or water. Only a few have a picnic table and /or a fire pit. It was basically just a long lawn with numbers on. Some of the sites are in the woods for more privacy.

The RV sites have electricity and water access. Some campers are stored there over the winter months.

The bathhouse was a little out dated but clean during our stay.

You are surrounded by farmland, so we were greeted every morning by donkey braying. It didn't bother us. There are also noises of cars and the train coming through.

The owners are very nice and laid back.

The drive to the national park or state park is about 15 min. The dunes are very impressive and beautiful. If you need something, there are stores, gas stations or restaurants within 10 driving minutes.

I think we would camp her again. No idea how it is during peak season but even with other tent campers around on the last 2 days, it was pretty quiet.

    A lot better now

We used to go camping here every summer when I was a kid so it brought back a little nostalgia we stayed an E567 I would stay away from these they are very muddy kind of tight to turn a 30 foot camper in but other than that Tickets To Indiana beach are $27.50 at the gate house. Laundry works amazingly have to download an app. All around great. Wish they had a better food option

    Ok but not great

Definitely not up to the par of other koas the site was clean but the amenities were not, they have security that is useless, and the website lists a playground, splashpad, and arcade, all of which are located in another campground that you have to walk to. Over all wasnt impressed for the price and wont be back
