Hardin Ridge Recreation Area is located on Monroe Lake south of Bloomington, Indiana. This recreation area offers six campground loops, two picnic areas and three shelterhouses, two of which are available for reservation, a three lane boat launch, a swim beach with shelter and showerhouse, hiking trails, and two rental cabins on the lake. The campground loops offer modern restroom and shower facilities. This area is operated by a concessionaire under a special use permit issued by the Forest Service from mid-April through mid to late October.
This campground loop is a shady campground with 17 tent and trailer sites. About half of the sites are electric. This area includes a fishing pond. White Oak Loop is generally open in the summer months but is closed in winter months, though other loops will be open. A maximum of 2 vehicles and 8 people are allowed per site. Fishing: A small fishing pond is provided on the campground loop, perfect for families to take their children and catch a few pan fish. Recreational Vehicles: This is one of six shady campground loops in the Hardin Ridge Recreation Area. It includes 17 sites, all of which are electric (either 30 or 60 amp). White Oak Loop is generally open in the summer months but is closed in winter months, though other loops will be open. A maximum of 2 vehicles and 8 people are allowed per site. Wildlife Viewing: Each of the six shady campground loops in the Hardin Ridge Recreation Area provide ample opportunities to see wildlife. While staying in the campground you share the birds and animal's home and are likely to see them come right up to your campsite.

Great Natural Wildeness Camping
Assorted size sites for mixed use camping. Sites are spaced to provide decent privacy
Room to roam
Level RV and tent sites, only some have water and electric. Large sites, clean amenities. Main road lead to the lake. Visited mid May and it was self checkin.
Great area!
Come during the late summer/early fall to beat the crowds. Deam Wilderness is just down the road, with some of the best backcountry hiking in the Midwest.

Directions
From Bloomington, IN, take State Rt. 446 south for approximately 14 miles to Hardin Ridge - Chapel Hill Rd. sign. Turn right onto Chapel Hill Rd. and go 1.7 miles to Hardin Ridge Recreation Area sign. Turn right and proceed to campground.
