Second time was not the same

We stayed here at the beginning of May last year. We thought it was a pretty good camp ground, but didn’t realize how different it would be the second time around a little later in the season. It was noisy and packed, tenters taking up more room than they should’ve, and no one to tell them not to. We had a camper set up close to us and taken over three sites. It was even uneven terrain than we remembered where we were set up, more dirt than grass. The bathrooms smelled heavily like urine and were not clean. When we left to dump the dump we had to switch to the other dump station because the hose threading was so bad. Even the other one wasn’t great, but we had to make it work. We will not be back, unless we try at the beginning of the season when it’s less busy and things aren’t as dirty. Even then, I don’t know if we want to battle the uneven sites.

Lakeside views

We spent two nights here enjoying the beautiful panoramic view of Lake Allison. The campground is small and in a bit of a noisy part of town, but still very pleasant! There is a shooting range not far from the campground across the lake and we would hear shooting off and on. It wasn’t obnoxious, just not as peaceful as we like. There is also some traffic noise from the street near by. Our sight sat far enough away from the road so that noise didn’t bother us, but if you need full hookups and have a larger trailer, you will be closer to the road. There are two bathroom/shower houses on each side of campground. One is newer and has individual private locking shower/toilet areas. We preferred that one, but the older one was just as clean and nice. The campground staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Some of the sights at the campground could be very challenging for bigger rvs, some very uneven and small spots, but the staff are very helpful in directing you towards a good site suited for you. Overall we very much liked this campground and will be back!

Motorcycle camping

Called to see if there was a site available for a tent late evening and left message. Received call back with in mins and a spot was available. Arrived and staff was very friendly and helpful. Set me right up next to restroom and helped me out with getting my external batteries and Bluetooth for helmet charged. I’d stay again.

Great Lake

All full hookups are in the sun most of the day. So if you don’t have a canopy or awning it’ll be hot. On concrete pads. Fire rings are right behind each site with plenty of room in between. Fire wood available on site. Shower houses 8/10 nice walk down to the lake good fishing and kayaking. Lots of trails to walk threw the forest.

Nice campground/unsanitary facilities

This campground is OK. Good for families. There are over a hundred sites, some fhu, some just electric, some primitive. It's very clean and well mantained, other than the restrooms. I've been here for 3 days and have yet to see someone clean them! But at $24 for basic site with electric it is what it is. It's pretty much right next to town, but you'd never know it once you're in the campground.

Space for tents all the way up to big rigs. Campground is on the lake. Free entry to the water park if you are camping!

No frills campground...but perfect for what you need.

The staff are wonderful...they were very friendly and helpful with the questions we asked. They were just enjoying the nice warm weather! Things in the campground are a little out of date, but that is not their fault. The sites are simple...electric, picnic table, and a fire ring. Most of the sites were level and they were capable of handling everything from a Tent to a big RV.

As others have mentioned...this is not the Ritz Carlton so plan on sharing your shower or toilet with a few creepy crawlers. However, there was running water and you can't complain about that.

The reason to stay here is to enjoy the nearby lake or just because you want to find a place while passing through. Ours was the latter. It would not be too bad to come back too so who knows.

Great staff, awful bathrooms

I’d like to start by saying the staff is wonderful. They’re very friendly and kind.

However,  The bathrooms could really benefit by some simple tuneups. In order to run the shower, one must hold down a rusty slimy chain. The floors are also very porous, which would make them very difficult to clean (hence the filthy floors)

Also, there were some other campers playing loud music which was annoying. It was not bad enough for us to make a fuss (we only stayed one night), so I have no idea how that might have been handled by staff had the need arisen.

Decent

Friendly staff. Only stayed one night. Sites were decent sized. Bathrooms needed refurbished But had good hot water The grass had just been cut and the bugs were awful. Suggest they keep grass cut more often.

Nice and quiet.

We were in a tent spot with power, on a somewhat level pad, with a great view of the lake. There were few people there. As with most municipal parks (my experience), facilities are mediocre. It was long walk to the bathroom, and the showers were hot, but not very private. Personnel were very friendly. It was raining, so didn't get to take advantage of all they have to offer. City wifi was free, reliable, but slow from our site.
