Lolo Creek Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Fishing access along Lolo Creek draws anglers to this Forest Service campground in Clearwater National Forest, where the creek runs close enough to sites that the sound of moving water is a constant presence. The campground sits within a forested corridor that reviewers consistently describe as feeling genuinely removed from town, even though the Orofino area is within reach for resupply. Hiking, climbing, and biking routes run through the surrounding Lolo corridor, giving campers multiple ways to spend time on the ground.

The layout here requires attention before you pull in. Reviewers note room for three or four small to mid-sized campers at the upper section, but the lower loop is a different story. One reviewer nearly couldn't extract a 24-foot fifth wheel after driving it down. Tent sites along the creek are the more workable option for larger groups, with space for two to four tents at some spots. Musselshell Meadows is a nearby alternative worth considering if your rig runs long.

Amenities are basic but functional. Pit toilets are on-site, fire rings and picnic tables are present, and alcohol is permitted. Pets are not allowed. Cleanliness gets a positive mention in multiple reviews, with toilets described as well-maintained given the setting. Note that no pets are allowed, so plan accordingly.

Walde Lookout Cabin and Big Smith Creek round out the options in the surrounding area if Lolo Creek fills up. Campers who can accommodate the access limitations and leave the dog at home will find the creek proximity and forest setting worth the planning.

Small and tight for campers

Room for 3 or 4 small to mid campers at the top but don't drive your camper down the loop. Almost didn't get out with our 24 ft 5th wheel. Beautiful down along the river for tents, couple sites you can put 2 to 4 tents.

Very Rough Road

We visited Lolo before bringing our trailer to camp and I'm glad we did! We would have damaged our trailer for sure!

Good spot to stay

The Lolo area is beautiful! So much cool hiking, climbing, rivers, biking right in the corridor. The campsite is a very standard spot. The tent sites and amenities are nice and the pit toilets are as clean as can be expected. Good place to camp!

Not surrounded by the city dwellers.

This is a bit from Orofino but it’s far enough away to where you really feel like your out there in nature.

We come to this area every summer around the time of logging sport competitions, and we opted to stay here after a few years of staying closer to town with a not so great camping experience.

They had fire circles, and restrooms as well as tables. There’s a nice little creek nearby which really makes this spot a cute and comfy area for a campground.
