Island Bar Recreation Site
About
Bureau of Land Management
The site is located on the Lower Salmon River. It is a frequent put-in spot for floating the Lower Salmon River via raft, kayak, or jet boat. The site is largely undeveloped and is near large, sandy beaches and has easy access to the Salmon River. BLM recreation sites also on this stretch of river are Lucile, Old Lucile, Shorts Bar, Slate Creek, Skookumchuck, White Bird, Hammer Creek and Pine Bar. Be sure to check those sites for more information and amenities for boat ramps or camping. For river maps, authorized outfitters and shuttle services, see the links below.

Rustic camping right on the river
Lover camping on the river here! You can sleep right on the beach or up in the trees. Bring your own water but there are vault toilets. Need a pan or something for fires, but some of the best camping! Wake up to amazing views of the river, you can put your boat in upstream and float down to your site. There cliffs for jumping off and hikes can be found along the way. Lots of wildlife to see. One of my favorite spots.

Not for early season
Early season made this inaccessible except for paddlers.
Wild horses and sandy beaches
This beautiful spot on the Salmon River is easy to get to. Great for fishing, swimming and kayaking. There are snakes and spiders as this is a desert zone so be careful! Also a cassette toilet is required to camp here!
