Within Clearwater National Forest, Base Camp Campground sits directly adjacent to a busy highway, creating constant traffic noise that drives some visitors away early. The US Forest Service facility features closely spaced sites that work well for families wanting children to play together but offer little privacy between camping groups.
Clean restrooms and a well-maintained playground serve as the main amenities. The tight site proximity means conversations from neighboring campers carry easily throughout the campground. For families prioritizing convenience over solitude, the layout allows easy supervision of kids moving between sites, though the highway noise persists day and night.
