This free Forest Service campground provides dispersed camping along Franklin Basin Road in Challis National Forest. Campers can bring pets and enjoy campfires while exploring the multiple sites scattered throughout the basin area.
Summer visitors should arrive early in the day, as spots fill quickly during peak season. Each camping area offers mountain views across the basin. Bugs become problematic during mid-summer months. For more structured camping, Custer #1 Campground sits less than a mile away with designated sites.
Description
This is a highly developed snow trail.
