Ok area

Was fairly trashed campground. Cleaned up two trash bags full of garbage. Random shoes, shell casing and mysterious empty glass containers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are the best spots for dispersed camping in Boise National Forest?

Boise National Forest offers several dispersed camping opportunities, with Road 82 being one option. While camping is permitted along this road, be aware that the area has experienced issues with litter and improper waste disposal in the past. For better dispersed camping experiences, consider exploring other forest service roads that branch off main routes through the national forest. Look for established pull-offs with fire rings indicating previous use. Always camp at least 100 feet from water sources, practice Leave No Trace principles, and pack out all trash. The forest has numerous suitable spots, particularly in less frequented areas away from main recreation sites.

Is Road 82 accessible for camping vehicles in Boise National Forest?

Road 82 in Boise National Forest is generally accessible for camping vehicles, though conditions vary seasonally. The road is unpaved and may have rough sections that could challenge larger RVs or trailers. Standard clearance vehicles can typically navigate the road during dry summer months, but wet conditions can make travel difficult. Before heading out, check with the Boise National Forest ranger district for current road conditions, especially in spring when snowmelt and rain can create muddy situations. Consider a scouting trip in your regular vehicle before bringing a larger camping setup.
