Four miles past the end of the pavement, Birdie Creek Campground opens up as a wide, flat dispersed area with enough room to accommodate three or four trailers. Trees provide solid shade across the site, and the river is a short two-minute walk from camp, running knee-deep in most spots. Eagles, deer, and chipmunks are regularly spotted in the area. No cell service, no amenities. Campers wanting a developed alternative can look at Sawtooth National Forest Chaparral Campground or browse campgrounds around Atlanta for more options in the region.
