Restrooms and showers were clean. A lot of COE campgrounds we stay at are very nice and the price is right. Especially with senior pass," notes Larry S.

**Kayaking and canoeing: Explore the lake's coves and inlets with your own watercraft. Rood Creek Park Camping offers good launch points. "Was able to easily launch a canoe as there is a boat ramp. Watched the alligators and birds on the water," shares James A.

Our site was on Pirates Cove loop, right on the lake. We had water views from both sides of the site, and thick forest on a third side," reports Jessica O.

**Lakefront site options: Sites with direct lake access rank highly among campers. "Most sites are either on the water or have a view of the lake. Bring your fishing poles and boats, lots of activity on the water!" recommends Elaine H.

**Free camping alternatives: Budget-conscious campers appreciate no-cost options. "Absolutely love this place. Super easy to find, you just go down a red clay road. There's plenty of sites up close to the pond, fire pits everywhere, picnic tables, clean garbages," shares Tamara about Rood Creek.

**Wildlife viewing: Bird watching and wildlife observation opportunities abound. "We walked to the lake there were so many dragonflies it was cool. The birds were swooping up the dragonflies it was interesting to watch," notes B M. from Florence Marina.

**Alligator awareness: Several campgrounds report alligator sightings. "There are a few trees spread about, but definitely not a lot of shade or privacy. We didn't have any issues with alligators but we did wake up to seeing and hearing them in the water," reports Tamara about Rood Creek.

**Limited cell service: Connectivity varies across campgrounds. "AT&T coverage was weak, with 1 bar of LTE service w/o a booster and speeds up to 0.5 MB/s and 2 bars of 5G service and speeds up to 0.7 MB/s with a booster," notes Ray & Terri F. at Hardridge Creek.

**Beach areas for kids: Several campgrounds offer designated swimming spots. Lakepoint Resort State Park Campground provides family-friendly water access. "We stayed in site # 81 it had full hook up and was on the water/lake. It's a big site and a quiet campground," reports B M.

**Playground access: Look for campgrounds with play areas. "They have a mini golf course on site for a fun time with the kids. There are two playgrounds, nothing special but my kids got a chance to play a bit and stretch after the drive," notes Keith and Tia S.

**Kid-friendly loops: Some campground sections are better suited for families. "Stayed on the OM loop. It was very nice. Bathhouse was super clean. Smelled of bleach which I appreciated. The host was super nice and helpful," shares Andrea W. about Cotton Hill.

**Campsite spacing: Consider site privacy when traveling with children. "The sites are well spaced, most are water front and easy access to water or have water view. They have full hookups!! Great Verizon and AT&T signals. Some sites are at the beach if you have kids," advises Liz H.

**Site drainage: Heavy rains can impact some sites. "Some sites really wet with standing water in rainy weather," warns Mike H. at White Oak Creek Campground.

**Pull-through availability: Several campgrounds offer convenient RV access. Anglers N Antlers provides good RV accommodations. "Very chill, quaint campground. Has a cute bath and laundry house. Best part was the owners though, they are super sweet and accommodating!" reports Kayla B.

**Leveling considerations: Pad quality varies between campgrounds. "The site pads themselves are concrete and most looked to be pretty level. Most of the sites were fairly well spaced," notes Ray & Terri F.

**Utility connections: Not all sites offer full hookups. "Nicely maintained campsite was quiet during the week but it sounds like they get pretty busy on the weekends. Since the park is surrounded by water there were several boats and some people fishing off the land," shares Deanna C. about Hardridge Creek.
