Van Pugh South Campground

Overall a beautiful spot. A quiet spot with not a lot of boat traffic when I went. The lake is not immediately deep right here so you can wade out a bit. This particular campsite though doesn’t have a sloped walk in point to the water. No one was staying next to our site so we just used the access area at the site next door. This site is also at the bottom of a slight hill, it is paved which makes for easy access though

This is not my favorite lake in GA, but the campground was nice. Sites are spread apart, bathrooms were clean. Our site didn’t have the best water access, but a good view.

Amazing lake front views. Great for paddle boarding/kayaking.

We stayed here 2 nights and loved it. Park has bathrooms, showers, and laundry. The site has lovely views, hookups, grill, fire pit, and picnic table.

Had a great stay at Van Pugh South in site 35. The site was located on the lake with gorgeous views. The pad itself was mostly concrete and had a slight tilt towards the waters edge but nothing too bad that couldn’t be fixed with a minor adjustment. We chose not to bother.

The camp sites are located along small islands jutting out into Lake Lanier. Plenty of shade, picnic table, fire ring. The pad itself is elevated above the waters edge. The site had water and 30amp electric but no sewer. The views of the sunset were spectacular. Fairly private sites.

The campground had a nice shower house and coin laundry. All in all the campground was spotless. I would definitely come back and stay several days. I only wish their season was longer.

The site we stayed at was a tent site with no power or water. But it was a large site and right on the water. We were able to swim all weekend.

Some of the sites are quite a way from the water. I'm at site #3 and the lake is down a fairly steep hill. You must have a short travel trailer to stay at this site. Mine is only 17 feet and between it and my truck they take up the entire space. The picnic table and fire ring are down a curvy sidewalk below the camper. There is water and electric hookups but no sewer. The park does have a dump station. Not too bad for a cheap stay.

Nice sites, must make reservation at recreation. Gov. 16 for lakeside no elec/no water.... And no love.... It all appears clean, but don't look too close.

Not sure what the hosts/commodants do all day, but drive thru every couple of hours to make sure no one is breaking the rules. If you are breaking the rules, your in trouble, and there gonna tell you about it.

In my whole life I never wanted to tell someone to fuck off more. Completes dicks! I don't know their names, but if their there you'll know exactly who I'm talking about.

There aren’t any amenities at this campground such as beach area on lake, walking trails, or any kayak rentals. However, our spot was right on the lake and was beautiful and peaceful. We went swimming and watched a sunset. We woke to a sunrise on the other side. Our campsite was positioned weird, but ended up being a big space.

This campground is awesome! Tent sites & RV sites are equally amazing. Almost all sites are directly waterfront on Lake Lanier with killer views and some even have their own little private beaches. The bathhouses are a little out-of-date but most importantly they were always kept clean. Dog friendly as well! Love this place

Enjoyed tent camping. Nicely maintained facility, but partiers (or a bar?) across the way on the lake played loud music both nights I was there.

This park has some of the best views. You will get clear views of the lake in early spring and late fall. Most of the sites have a view of the lake. Family and I are in love with this place!

Nice little park. Good to take kids on a summer day or hang a hammock and do some reading.
