Walmart plus multiple small stores parking lot

Pulled up last night, 10 pm. I've seen a few other campers in the lot with generator running. I parked my 34' class a and fired up the generator as well. It's 1230 midday the following day, and i have had zero issues so far with parking/camping. This citys police are jerks when it comes to parking/camping anywhere except a rv park. So far, so good

Incredibly Busy & Jam-Packed

This Walmart Supercenter is a monstrosity version of the low-cost big box retailer and can be accessed just 5-6 minutes after exiting I295 heading east towards the beaches up here in NE JAX. The accompanying parking lot is equally massive, which you would think translates to tons of parking options, but truth be told, this place was absolutely jam-packed when we stopped by (granted, it was mid-morning on a Saturday), but what we did find was a fairly new looking, freshly poured piece of pavement that offers up incredibly level parking options with individual slots appearing to be fairly spacious. Sitting right on Atlantic Boulevard, there’s the steady stream procession of non-stop traffic coming in and out of this place, and with all the traffic in the lot, you’ll be crawling at a snail’s pace. Best bet is to stay on the outer perimeter either on the south or as far west as you can get. The massive size of this Walmart means that you should have no problem finding anything to stock up on while you are here and there is a McD’s embedded inside the store along with fairly decent washrooms.

While scoring criteria may vary from one person to the next, here are the 5 most important criteria that informed my rating of this overnight location: convenience (EZ on- and off-access), safety & security, quality (of facilities), peace & quiet and amenities (either on-site or nearby). Here’s how I ranked this particular overnight spot:

Convenience: 3

Safety & Security: 3

Quality: 4

Peace & Quiet: 1

Amenities: 3

Overall, I scored this location a 3.

Happy Overnighting!
