Not a typical campground

If you are a traditional camper stay away. This place is mainly for trucks and ATV’s. There is sugar sand everywhere and my car got stuck. After they helped me get out I left.

Bring Earplugs

I camped in the wilderness area which is somewhat disconnected from the main RV site. There are trails which are used by ATV's and up until 10pm its noisy. You also get quite a lot of noise from the divided highway which runs adjacent to the site. Getting to the wilderness area can be a bit challenging if you don’t have 4 wheel drive as the trails that lead you there are comprised of Sugar Sand. If you are a party until the wee small hours kind of camper or RV’r then you might enjoy this site and there are lots of activities to keep kids and adults occupied, however if you are more interested in a laid back quieter time then this probably won’t fit the bill.

Amazing Camping Experience

We heard so many great things from friends and boy did this place live them up! This was our first trip here even though we live only 1 hour away. Great primitive camping sites. Amazing trails for ATV use and mudding. Will definitely be back! Staff was friendly and helpful. A must visit!

3 Generations grew up hers, here, I wS one!!

This campground has came so far. I can remember when it was little, but so fun! I couldn't wait to go every couple weeks! I learned how to shake teeth hunt, name snake species, dig up wooly mammoth remains,canoe,4 wheel, mudding, rope swing and last but not least, I learned how to wreck every golf cart my parents rented lol. The owners now passed down to the kids, they are so sweet and always made our stays safe and fun! The kids now take care of it and they've blown it out of the water! Since Hurricane Charley nearly destroyed the place I called my 2nd home, these kids have worked so hard to rebuild it and now it's so more awesome. My mother , now widow, has since retired and lives there year round. She cleans up ,guards the gate, and does gator patrol. I wanna say thanks to the family who opened there lard and home up to so many. We have so many memories, and have made so may friends and memories. If your ever in the area check out the thousands of acres of nothing but fun times!!

Horrendous

Went with my family for a couple of days. Probably the worst experience we have had camping in sometime. The place is filthy. The bathrooms are horrendousand filthy I don't know who cleans them but they do a poor job. On top of that you've got tons of flies Where the garbage dumpsters are. On top of that it's all dirt roads it's a cluster of dust constantly and a noise from all the ATVs and gas golf carts. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I challenge the owners to reply to this because it was a waste of our money. And on top of that super expensive. Overall horrendous experience. I will badmouth you guys all day long. Get your stuff together literally especially in your bathrooms and shower areas that are filthy. What a waste of money.!!!!!!

One of the greats!

This was our first time at Peace river Campground and we absolutely loved it. We are already planning the next visit. Our spot 187 was fantastic. Right up front and next to the food trucks. Everyone in the store was so polite. The trails were pretty great too. Solid 10 from us!

Fossils, Tilapia, Alligators and the Peace River

This park seems to flood and have limited sewer sites but is a great place to find Shark teeth and other fossils. I once had to abandon my Tilapia as the alligator appeared to want it more than me!

Close attractions include the Solomon Castle, well worth visiting.

Redneck playground

We had an amazing time staying at this campground. Lots of swimming we had a rope swing at our site on the river we also rented a golf cart which was a lot of fun for my daughters. We found about a dozen sharks teeth well digging in the river it was a lot of fun. Only thing is to expect four wheelers to be running around till about nine or 10 tonight.

Redneck playground

We had an absolute blast staying at this campground. My three daughters didn’t stop the whole time between swimming renting a golf cart jumping in the river from the rope swing and swing at our site. We found about a dozen sharks teeth while digging in the river. Our family is probably going to have to buy a four wheeler now LOL. I would highly recommend this spot for sure. Great for RV/ATV/dirtbikes ... not so much if you prefer primitive tent

Ended up here after our first choice was flooded out.

Pros:

Lots of amenities and a camp store. Even if you're 'primitive' camping, there are amenities at the entrance of the property.

Close to Peace River for fossil hunting - we found LOTS and the camp store sells all the gear you need.

Cons:

Loud vehicles at all times goin' real fast with shiny lights and various Toby Keith songs bumpin' (no shade on Toby Keith, but I'd rather not hear Red Solo Cup at 1am when I'm camping)

ATV heaven

Peace River is the place to go in SWFL if you have toys! Trails, mud holes, beaches. My small kid particularly like the “raccoon restaurant” hill which is the dump but fun to ride over. I was concerned to see no helmets being worn by anyone especially it being so crowded but that’s a personal decision. Our 4 camper site is a good time because we enclose our own little space. The community showers/bathrooms are gross so just use your own or the woods. They have fun entertainment; bands, ice cream social, bingo, a food truck. If you haven’t done your research the Peace River is full of alligators in the spring/summer time. They didn’t bother us but they also didn’t seem too afraid of us either. In all this campground is fun but it’s not what you want if your looking for the calm, beautiful nature camping vibe.

Depends on the weekend

My husband and I have camped here numerous times, I actually frequented this campground with my family growing up, and we have had more good experiences than bad (from what I can remember we only had 1 bad experience). It used to be more family oriented than it is now, but still family friendly (it’s nothing like the crazy parties at mud holes like RYC and those places). I feel they have started to nickel and dime the customers (IE - you have to pay extra per day to use your AC in your camper and you have to have a wristband to even ride and ATV/SXS/golf cart). It’s gets pretty crowded on holiday weekends, which could be fun or annoying, depends on the type of person you are. I like that they are staying to do events with live bands on the weekends to bring in more customers (look on their Facebook page), but like I said, we frequent this campground and overall, do and will continue to recommend to our friends and family. I think my favorite part about this campground is the site options. They have buddy sites that you can share with up to 4 campers. It’s great for when we bring friends with us, so we all share a concrete/brick pad but they do sell out fairly quickly so plan in advance if you’re going on a holiday weekend.

Great sites by the river

Lots of great spots right on the banks of the river. RVs are in the main campground near the pool, bathroom/showers and store. Tent sites are further back by the river. They're not marked so you just find a good one and set up camp. It is a big atv campground so expect lots of noise and mud if you go down by the one section of the river but everyone is really good at stopping at night. The restrooms/showers are old but have hot water and are clean. They usually have activities like bingo in the evenings. Close to grocery stores if you need something and the nearest town is cute.

Wilderness or Glamping

ThisThis is a great Campground just outside of Arcadia Florida. It has ATV trails and fossilized shark tooth hunting. it has a Wilderness Area as well as developed the campground area. There is laundry facilities, showers, a pool, canoeing and kayaking, ATV riding trails. A snack bar/ restaurant, ice cream place is available on the weekends. The office / store is very well-stocked. I love this place!

What an Adventure!!

This campground was easy to get to and has lots to do near by. There is the town of Arcadia nearby with local history and restaurants if you feel like a hot meal on a rainy night. Orif you forgot something there is a grocery store near by as well. It is conveniently located next to the canoe rental place as well. You can spend the day paddeling down the river, fishing or sifting through the sediment looking for fossils from all different time periods. The campground is located right off of the river so you can bring your own canoe or kayak. Pets are welcome but beware of alligators especially during mating season there are plenty to be seen at any time. We camped twice in the primitive area. This area is all sand dunes first come first serve perfect for atvs and golf carts with lots of trails. If you are camping in this area I’d suggest wet wipes, toilet paper and sanitizer, there are outhouses but they haven’t been upkept well the two times we visited. There are bathrooms in the rv area by the office as well. These are the best I’ve seen yet, each toilet has its own door that locks behind it, the showers have their own separate lockable rooms as well, these get cleaned every morning. There are laundry facilities, a pool, a petting zoo, and a restaurant that opens on the weekends. You can buy simple camping equipment, snacks, firewood and ice at the office, they are very helpful. Overall this is a fun campground, plenty to do for all ages.

Could be really nice!!

Could be a great place, if you own a 4 wheeler etc, its an awesome place to ride, if not you have to put up withthe noise and dust until 8 at night. Speed is enforced within the campgrounds, sites are single, double, quad. River is close by. Not alot going on unless you bring a motorized toy to play with. Lots of shade though,as well as quite a few of permanent residents that live in the campground...lol

Store was friendly, sites mostly were drive through, really quiet at night..Bathrooms very clean..old but clean, same withthe showers. Squirrels out of control...lol
