Best Springs Around!

This campground was huge! They had a camp store, playground, walking trails, volley ball, snorkeling, diving, and kayak rentals. A little bit for everyone to enjoy. The campground accommodates very well, there were enough bathrooms and maintenance that it wasn’t bad at all. There are limited electric sites which makes it tricky in the summer but so worth it to cool off in the springs any time of night. This is also the only spring you can drink on even get a keg delivered to your site. Please be curious of the nature we get to enjoy and clean up after yourself in the water and out.

Must Love Outdoors

I loved coming here! We came in the middle of fall with all of the leaves in full bloom! The winding mountain roads, rivers and picture perfect views made this trip my all time favorite. The campground was nestled in the middle of the forest right off of a crystal clear river. This was a a great spot for pictures and for fishing small mouth bass right off your site. There were plenty of deer, turkey and even a black bear off there n the distance. Beware of leaving any food, even dog food out for the night, bears are not shy! This campground also offered primitive and electric sites for tent campers as well as rv sites. You do want to make reservations ahead of time, you can do this through reserve America or the website itself. We enjoyed our hikes during the day and relaxing by the fire at night. if you want to go to town Gatlinburg and pigeon forge are very close. You also can take a beautiful scenic drive through the Cherokee National Forest where there are Elk grazing in the open fields.

Tons of hiking

This is located by the hocking hills region of the state. Beautiful winding Ohio roads and landscapes out of this world. Take a day trip to one of the many sites to see in the region or go for a hiking through the Zaleski State Forest. This is and area you must love the outdoors as there isn’t much else to do. There are plenty off of shore fishing spots right off the campgrounds trails. You can dock a boat off lake hope and enjoy a day on the water, or rent a kayak or canoe at the local beach area right down the road. You can enjoy a day playing in the water, eating and ice cream and sun bathing. Please no furry friends at the local beach though. The grounds were very large, plenty of spaces no need for reservation in off season. Also the offer primitive, electric and rv sites and are pet friendly there. We showed up late so the office was closed, they did have a list of sites that were taken on the door for you to pick a spot or find your reservation. When they did open we registered and were all set, they offer bags of ice for sale as well. If you’re looking for firewood there are plenty of private sellers off the back roads normall $5-$10 a small or large bundle, it’s on the honor system so please pay them!! I love this area and campground the best there is around there. We went into the little town of Zaleski which is about 4 small roads with a local bar, very basic bar caned beer and about 5 liquor choices. Cool thing is you can get beers to go back to the site if you’ve run out. We had a good time here and will be back time and time again!

Great Family Campground

This is a fun campground lots to do. There are biking/hiking trails nearby. Also a Fort that was built during the Spanish American Era, this has some unique history behind how it was used in different time periods. This campground also offers miles of white sugar sand beaches with beautiful views! You can bring your fur babies over to the dog beach for a day of fun. There’s also the option to kayak or canoe out into the ocean on the bayside, check the weather ahead of time, also know when tides going out or in this makes a huge difference in trying to get back. There is also a playground area for the kids at the front of the park. At the campground they offer electric and rv sites, some even on the beach. There’s a small shop in the office to buy your last minute items, the staff was very helpful and friendly. You do want to make reservations ahead of time, as they fill up quite fast. There are clean showers and restrooms to wash up after a day in the sand. Overall this is nice clean campground with plenty for everyone to enjoy.

Amazing Family Spot!

We came in not knowing what to expect. This campground has everything you could want for a day out on the water or hiking through the woods. This campground is located right off of I-75 perfect stop if you’re not trying to get to far off the highway. We took a backpacking trail right out of the campground. Perfvt morning hike then headed right off of the campsite to get into the lake. If you’re a fisher/ boater there are plenty of prey to catch, and a launch site right near the front. This place was the perfect spot for kids to Haag our in the lake or play on the playground and cook out! This place gets 5 star rating because of all of the amenities it offers along with the amazing group sites. They have an ample amount of hiking, tennis, basketball, fishing and boating. Somewhere for the whole family to have fun. The campground has many bathrooms to clean up in, the ones towards the front are much better and cleaner than the ones in the back. Also scoop out the place you may find a hidden gem spot right on the lake like we did.

What an Adventure!!

This campground was easy to get to and has lots to do near by. There is the town of Arcadia nearby with local history and restaurants if you feel like a hot meal on a rainy night. Orif you forgot something there is a grocery store near by as well. It is conveniently located next to the canoe rental place as well. You can spend the day paddeling down the river, fishing or sifting through the sediment looking for fossils from all different time periods. The campground is located right off of the river so you can bring your own canoe or kayak. Pets are welcome but beware of alligators especially during mating season there are plenty to be seen at any time. We camped twice in the primitive area. This area is all sand dunes first come first serve perfect for atvs and golf carts with lots of trails. If you are camping in this area I’d suggest wet wipes, toilet paper and sanitizer, there are outhouses but they haven’t been upkept well the two times we visited. There are bathrooms in the rv area by the office as well. These are the best I’ve seen yet, each toilet has its own door that locks behind it, the showers have their own separate lockable rooms as well, these get cleaned every morning. There are laundry facilities, a pool, a petting zoo, and a restaurant that opens on the weekends. You can buy simple camping equipment, snacks, firewood and ice at the office, they are very helpful. Overall this is a fun campground, plenty to do for all ages.

Loved This Campground!!!

This campground is about 45 minutes from the main highway. When they say in the middle of no where, they aren’t kidding. There are no gas stations, restaurants or any kind of industrial feel around here. There is a market on the way in for snacks, beer, and ice but it’s still about 15 minutes from the campground so be prepared out there. Also I’d suggest bug spray to deter ticks, fleas and mosquitoes there are plenty depending on the time of year you go. There are walking trails located in the state park all over, even a couple that start at the back of the campground. Beware of wildlife in the area we saw an alligator on the way to the bathroom from the primitive site, also panthers are indigenous to this area;perfect hunting grounds for them in the tall grass and plenty of deer nearby. If you’re looking for a wilderness experience in the middle of no where, this is it. At night they have an area for you to star gaze you can camp there or walk/ drive over. You see every star due to the fact your so seculeded the only lights come from other campers nearby and the bathhouse. The bathhouses are some of the best I’ve seen very clean and regularly maintained. There is a camp host on the grounds, he was very helpful and even dropped ice off to our site. They also offer electric sites or rv sites. They also have an area to allow your horses to run, trails and stay at night if you bring them. Also if you’re looking for something adventurous there is Fort Drum Crystal Mine where you can dig for Calcite Clam shells that are over 400 million years ago.
