On Pensacola Naval Air Station, Oak Grove Park sits between wooded sites and Gulf waters, offering military families and eligible campers direct beach access alongside full hookups. The campground operates under military management with concrete pads for RVs and a separate area that previously accommodated tent camping.
Sites cluster fairly close together among mature trees that provide shade but may interfere with satellite reception. Steve V. notes "RV sites are concrete pads with full hook up (power, water, sewer, WiFi, and cable)," though cable connections sometimes require hunting around utility posts. Deluxe sites 46-51 offer more space than standard spots. The campground includes both back-in and pull-through options with 30 and 50-amp service, plus a large, consistently clean bathhouse and laundry facilities.
The on-site beach allows dogs but prohibits swimming, creating a walking and fishing area where campers spot dolphins and rays during morning hours. Blue Angels practice flights add periodic overhead entertainment when the squadron is stationed here. A community center hosts social events, and walking paths connect to the Pensacola Lighthouse and National Naval Aviation Museum within the base. Cell coverage runs strong with Verizon reporting four bars.
Access requires using the West Gate via Blue Angel Parkway, as the main gate route can lead RVs into problematic areas with tight blockade weaves. Reservations book by site type rather than specific spots, though staff attempts to accommodate requests. The park stays quieter after duty hours and weekends. For additional camping choices in the region, campers can explore places to camp near Perdido Key or consider alternatives like Fort Pickens Campground — Gulf Islands National Seashore nearby.
Military affiliation opens doors to this waterfront location where aviation history meets Gulf Coast camping.
