Can’t beat the price and location

This is an all around winner. On the beach with shells, sunsets, waves and all that the beach has to offer. PLUS nice wide sites - wider than I was expecting. We’ve got a drivers side slide and gave it plenty of room plus the picnic area. Love the foliage dividing sites. Nice laundry, great bathrooms, tons of rinsing and washing opportunities. The cherry on top - the bathroom/showers has an AC!! Everyone hates to get sticky after a shower and the AC took that muggy edge right off in August! Unexpected awesomeness.

Small, cozy very nice spot with awesome views

This was our maiden voyage with our new to us pop up camper this week, our first trip was a great success 😊. We were very fortunate to have chosen this campground, we loved it!! Weather was great our campsite was perfect we had site 22, the last spot on your left right before the picnic area and beach access, really it was just perfect 👍🏻 We also took a 30 minute drive to Caspersen Beach for some shark tooth hunting, and found so many!! Later in the evenings we jumped on the free trolley to Siesta Key Village for some ice cream. We really loved this whole area and the campground was perfect will definitely be returning.

Awesome small beach resort

A small but great RV resort with beach access. Well kept, clean and with access to the beach just a few yards from any site.

It’s one of our favorite places to stay and we will be back many more times.

Beach Camping

If you like awesome sunsets and wake up to the sounds of crashing waves, this is the place to stay. Small and quaint little county campground with seashell sites and full hook-ups. A little tight to maneuver big rigs or a toad, but site is worth staying if you can get a reservation.

Hard to get in but totally worth the wait

Small, secluded campground mere feet from the Gulf. You can hear the waves from your site. Clean restrooms. Kids playground. Lots of parking. Ice on site. Helpful staff. Free Trolley stops near front gate to take you to downtown Siesta Key. One of our favorite sites...going again this weekend!

Siesta Key Florida Camping at its best

If you want to be steps from the beach and all that Siesta Key has to offer Turtle Beach State Park is for you.  Turtle Beach is a very small campground which is great if you don't like a crowd.  The sites are really close together but we were there to enjoy the beach with our grandsons so it did not bother us.  There is so much to do or do nothing and just relax beachside.  We love to explore so having a free trolley that stops close by the entrance was a huge plus.  Rentals are available across the street for water fun.  If you don't feel like cooking there are two fun restaurants  across from the entrance that offer seafood and other fare.  Turtles roamed the area and each night the seabirds put on a show.  Very hard to get a space here so plan far ahead.

Nice campground, but overnight road noise near the street

The bathrooms were very nice, and showers heated up well. The location is great for the beach, but I would not recommend tent camping near the road as we were woken up several times overnight by what sounded like cars racing on the road nearby. We'll likely stay again, but only on sites closer to the beachside.

Interesting Experience

The only good thing that happened to us during the“Covid Crisis” is some camp grounds needed to reset. Turtle Beach was no exception and provided us an opportunity for a staycation. It was both fun and strange as I lived on Siesta from 2003 to 2017. It is the ONLY camp ground ON the beach I’m aware of in Sarasota County. It is an INSANELY POPULAR destination.

Since Siesta Key has been named“America’s Best Beach” by Trip Advisor, Travel& Leisure and many other ranking authorities for over a decade, it’s easy to see why this camp ground in particular is difficult to reserve. This is a county owned facility under Sarasota County Parks and Recreation who overall do a very good job with all of our public park facilities. I shouldn’t use the term camping, as it’s more like a RV Park with older facilities, small spots better suited to small and mid-sized rigs.

There may be 40 total spots. When it rains, many are”waterfront” until the rain drains into the sand and out to the Gulf. That’s the bad part, the good part is EVERYTHING ELSE. So much to do at Turtle Beach from walks, kayaking, bicycling, swimming and the beach is only a few steps away complete with tiki picnic tables.

A free county run trolley runs from the campgrounds to Siesta Key Village about every 20 minutes or so from 8am til 10pm. It doesn’t have a particular schedule and two trolleys criss cross all day basically taking you wherever you want to go on the key. Downtown Sarasota is only about 15 minutes and there are lots of shops, restaurants, grocery stores, and big box stores all equally accessible by car, bicycle or Uber.— As far as campgrounds go I give it 3 stars as it is adequate.

The park is managed by Sarasota County Parks and Recreation. To my knowledge, this is their only campground and they do not have core experience managing campgrounds this type of facility and it shows. The hosts were the worst I’ve ever encountered and their attitude borders on complete apathy. They seem to have barricaded themselves in their campsite where they can freely smoke and hold court with their friends. Check out the pics.

Great spot - no pets though

We can echo everything stated in the previous reviews. This is a great little spot with beach access that no other campground in the area offers.

One thing in the Dyrt listing is incorrect though.... Turtle Beach does not allow pets (only service animals)

Great little campground

This is a small campground that butts right up against beach. The sites are responsible size but can be tough for longer rigs to get in. The sites are crushed sea shells and are lined with tropical foliage. The walk to the beach from the farthest site is about 2 mins. No campfires here but there are some charcoal grills and tables out at the beach. The beach itself is nice and quiet. If you want to go to siesta key beach its about 4 miles. The sand there is super white and soft. It's 99% quartz and is really rare.

Tight spots.

Beach is at the end of the campsite, easy walk. Restaurants across the street if you feel like dining out. Trolley takes you to town and an easy bike ride. We enjoyed our stay. Siesta key is beautiful. On sight manager was very helpful.

Beach-side with amenities and great service

Arrived here for two nights and stayed for eight. The site is at the end of a two-mile stretch of road in an affluent neighborhood. Checking in was easy; the live-in "hosts" assisted with ice and some tips about the area. There is a covered laundry and WiFi service (stronger toward the street end of the camp site). All camp sites are bedded with crushed shells and have a picnic table. There are hook ups for water and power. There are bushes and palm trees between the sites, providing some privacy, especially for tents. Most spots are partially shaded.  There is a code to open the vehicle gate (and the bathrooms) that you will receive in your registration email. The beach is at the end of the interior, two-way road that divides the campground. It is accessible only by foot. There is also a picnic area with open grills for cooking with coal. The beach is clean and ample. Grey sand. Beautiful sunsets. Lots of opportunity for bird watching. Beach was never crowded, even when the campground was full. The nearest 7/11 and marketplace is at the beginning of the two mile road that leads to the campsite, but you can get ice at the campground. Across the street, there is a tiki hut restaurant with occasional live music, and a marina with a restaurant.

The review will merit five stars once:

- They fix street drainage. Rain leaves the center road flooded.

- They install stronger WiFi throughout the campground. It was often weak and spotty.

- The bathrooms are remodeled, like they stated being in the plans.

Would definitely return. The price at around $50 was right.

Great location

Great campground. Staff was very friendly and still very accommodating while taking great measures of keeping everyone safe during Covid-19. We were in site 6. Site 6 is toward to the front of the campground and the first site within the security gate. Our trailer is 12ft in total and it fit well but definitely one of their smaller sites. Pretty good privacy between sites for a smaller campground. Bathrooms were kept very clean and have AC which was great. Laundry facility was great as well. WiFi worked perfectly making it easy to stream shows and movies. The best part of this campground would be the private access to the beach just steps away from any of the sites. Also, the option of taking the free trolley that picks up at the campground and takes you to downtown Siesta Key is unbeatable. Only negative about the campground is we were there during heavy rain and the main road does flood severely. There was no flooding on the sites themselves but it did make it rather hard to walk throughout the grounds beyond your own site. Overall it was an incredible campground and we plan to return soon.
