Pope Still Hunt Camp

Hunters and dispersed camping enthusiasts will find Pope Still Hunt Camp offers a remote experience within Apalachicola National Forest. The campground requires navigating two miles of unpaved road to reach two adjacent dispersed camping areas that accommodate roughly 10-15 campers total. Some visitors appear to establish semi-permanent setups with chain link fences, while others use the space for shorter stays.

The Forest Service provides portable toilets on-site, and campers can bring pets. The location maintains a quiet atmosphere despite the mix of short-term and longer-term occupants. For those planning visits, expect basic facilities and prepare for the unpaved access road that leads to these camping destinations outside Apalachicola National Forest.

Good for a night

The last 2 miles of the entry road is unpaved. There are 2 areas next to each other for dispersed camping. About 10-15 campers total when we were there. Some people look like they live there (chain link fences). Quiet. Port-a-potty but didn’t use it.
