Cotton Landing

Paddlers planning a run to Cypress Springs have a ready put-in at Cotton Landing, a free, reservation-only campground managed by the Northwest Florida Water Management District along the Choctawhatchee River. The site has three spots, each with a pavilion, fire ring, grill, and trash can. Sites sit close together, making this a better fit for smaller setups or tents than larger rigs. Two bars of Verizon 4G are reported. Note that the campground floods, so checking river levels before arrival is worth the effort. Holmes Creek Camping & RV Resort is a nearby option for campers who want hookups or more space between sites.

Canoe to Cypress Springs

Real nice campground that is free by reservation only, book at camplife.com. Three small spots that are ideal for smaller setups or tents. The sites are pretty close together, but each has it's own pavilion, fire ring, grill and trash can. From here it's a short paddle to Cypress Springs. We are visiting in late Febraury and the water has just receded below flood stage. This campground does flood so be mindful of that when planning a visit. Two bars of Verizon 4G.
