Description
Peacefield Farm is a small organic flower, hay and seedling farm featuring a colonial house built in 1749. It sits off a quiet country gravel road on nearly 20 acres in Coventry Connecticut. Open fields, a pond, a classic red barn and woods with winding stone walls give the property a distinctly old New England feel.
During the day, you may catch sight of the resident wild turkeys, and the hawks circling the fields overhead. Nights are quiet except for the sound of crickets, bullfrogs and barn owls. The fields are ringed with century old trees and the sound of wind moving through leaves high overhead is one of the great pleasures of the farm.
Peacefield’s activity is season dependent. Late winter sees activity begin with thousands of seedlings in the greenhouse, planted out in the spring, with harvests of flowers occurring regularly all summer and ending with the first frost. Garlic is planted in the fall and early winter is a quiet time.
The property is especially well suited to travelers looking for a peaceful rural stay rather than a conventional campground, and extra nights are encouraged space permitting. The farm offers wide open level ground with easy access and ample room to turn around.
Dogs are welcome and exploring the woods is encouraged.
