Tall trees provide cover along Forest Road 257, where dispersed camping spots accommodate drive-in access within San Juan National Forest. Campers report moderate vehicle traffic on the access road, with some residential areas nearby that may generate occasional noise from dogs. The area features sticky mud conditions and evidence of previous visitors, including scattered bones and bullet shells at some pullout locations.
This spot works well as an overnight base for exploring Mesa Verde and Canyon of the Ancients. Campers can find additional dispersed sites outside San Juan National Forest by traveling further up the forest road system for increased privacy.
