Overview
Thousand Trails Blue Mesa Recreational Ranch is a private RV resort located at 27601 West Highway 50, approximately 16 miles west of Gunnison, Colorado, adjacent to Blue Mesa Reservoir — Colorado's largest reservoir. Operated by Thousand Trails (acquired February 2022 from the Loken family), the property is open seasonally from May 1 through September 30. Non-members may book nightly stays at retail rates; Thousand Trails members camp at no nightly fee with a Camping Pass.
Facilities
The resort has 380 sites including full-hookup and partial-hookup RV sites, tent sites along a creek, and rental cabins. Amenities include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a laundry facility (coin-operated), playground, mini-golf, two clubhouses/lodges, and WiFi in common areas. Electric hookups are standard; electricity is metered separately for stays of 30+ days.
Recreation
On-site activities include horseback rides (horses and mules kept on property), an on-site fishing pond, and mini-golf. The adjacent Blue Mesa Reservoir offers boating, kayaking, and fly fishing. Curecanti National Recreation Area is immediately next door. Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is within day-trip range to the west.
