Stargazing enthusiasts will find excellent dark sky conditions at Sage Campground, which sits on open BLM land with no tree cover to obstruct night views. The Bureau of Land Management maintains this established campground with clean restrooms, fire rings, picnic tables, and designated tent pads at each site. Access requires navigating soft silt sections that could prove challenging during wet conditions.
Cell service appears spotty throughout the area. The campground enforces a no-pets policy, and the exposed setting offers little shade during daylight hours. For regional camping options, explore camping near BLM Land — Kremmling Field Office or nearby North Sand Hills Recreation Area.
Description
The North Sand Hills Campground was installed in 2011 to accommodate large RVs. The campground has two vault toilets and 13 individual pull-through sites, each with a picnic table, fire ring, and tent pad. In addition to the developed campground, numerous dispersed camping sites exist within the North Sand Hills OHV area. Always use existing sites. For more information, please contact the Kremmling Field Office.
